Following the 2-2 draw at home against Plymouth Argyle in League One, I asked the Vital Lincoln City members what three things they learned from the match.

Here’s what Casperimp said:

1. If Plymouth Argyle are a team at the top of the division then there is little to choose between many of the teams in this league despite all the money that has been spent. Aside from Rotherham, there has been no team who have looked head and shoulders above us when we are at our best.

2. Here is the problem how do we achieve our best! Beset by persistent injury problems further compounded by the sight of Poole and Bridcutt limping off after putting in sterling performances so far this season. We as fans have no idea what our best 11 is and how well the players that have been brought in will perform when fully match fit. We are consistently inconsistent, irresistible at our best (Cambridge). Diabolically average at worst.

3. We have learned that while we might not have the explosive and talented attack that we possessed last season with messers Johnson, Grant, and Rogers now-departed we have arguably a more rounded and solid base of players to build on for the future. Sanders came on and showed some of that potential we all hoped he had and Bishop completed 90 minutes. We might not hit the heady heights of last season but I firmly believe we have some solid blocks to build on, we just need to see a consistent period where those blocks aren’t consistently breaking down. If we can get that and with a couple of quality additions in January a top 10 finish is within our grasp I am confident of that despite what all the naysayers may think.
