Views from sedgleyimp following the 1-1 draw at home against Ipswich Town in League One: “One word for the performance…Gutsy.
Not a game we created that much in but one we went toe to toe with a team who should go up this season. One where we again seemed to get the big decisions made against us. Seemed a penalty when House was knocked over in the first half and if that is given Jackson isn’t sent off a minute or so later. Was that a red card?? Honestly very difficult to see at my vantage point at the other end but the way the Ipswich players swarmed around the referee might well have swayed his decision that Jacko was the last man. Need to see it again really.
Moments later TJ was nearly decapitated with a high boot and nothing other than a free kick. You did get the feeling of being hard done to come half time.
Second half and we are clearly set up to try and scrap a point. Then we manage to get a spot-kick for I assume a bit of grappling by their defenders. The ref had called out a couple of their players just before the corner kick so they had fair warning. A lovely calm penalty by Diamond to put us ahead against the run of play.
Then another Alamo-type performance where we were breached only the once and a very well-earned point was ours come whatever time of day it eventually finished.
Kudos to our defence again with TJ and Sean Roughan outstanding but every player put in a shift today.”

imps_joe: “That is a truly awesome 2nd half performance and the second in a row with 10 men. Some top top performances in there.
A brilliant point.
hope Ipswich don’t go up because we seem to do well against them.
Ipswich are the best team I’ve seen this season, but they came up against a top-quality defensive performance…. Even against 10 men.”
WellingtonImp: “Well, it must be said, that after the crap display at Burton, we’ve seen two very committed performances – no wins, but against two top teams and with a sending off against us in both games, two excellent games. Well done lads; stood tall when it mattered. We can’t rely on the spoiling tactic for every game through!”
PerthImp: “WOW – what can you say? To be up against it in every possible way – losing Virtue with an injury, losing Jackson with a red card, playing arguably one of the best teams in the division with so much possession. Absolutely amazing performance from 10 heroes. Eyoma (MoM), O’Connor, and Roughan, the main ones but every one of them did their bit. Chance to regroup for Saturday. Up the Imps.”
