“It’s another difficult decision to make to try and be fair on the majority.”

|

Lincoln City Chairman Clive Nates tweeted the other day that it is possible that around 25% of capacity will be allowed in initially when football resumes at our level, but that it will vary depending on stadium infrastructure.

Unsurprisingly, this tweet has resulted in a really good discussion on 100% Imps. Below are the views from Luke Imp:

“Some interesting and valid points raised.

It’s another difficult decision to make to try and be fair on the majority. Of those who’ve already bought Season Ticket’s then, as mentioned, some might not want to attend anyway.

In my opinion, Season Ticket’s should go back on sale and give everyone an opportunity to be ‘in the hat’ as it were because presumably STH’s will be allowed in on a rotor basis rather than random draws that could see people attend all the games?

Of course, the main difficulty is the difference in the price of ST’s and iFollow for those who don’t/can’t attend. I’m not sure how that’ll work. We’d be relying on people’s generosity again so I’m not sure what the answer is in that respect.

All that said, does 25% seem too low? I’d pass more people in a supermarket than I would at the football stadium and I only need to be wearing a mask in there from Monday, bearing in mind it’s all indoors as well.”

More views from the thread:

Scotimp: “I was thinking about that earlier, it is a logistical nightmare. How does the club determine who can attend any given game? What happens if that person cannot attend (people like me, for example)? With 4,100 season tickets already sold, it also opens up the problem of refunds for those who are not permitted to attend. Surely those problems would only be compounded by selling more season tickets? I don’t envy clubs trying to agree a process on any of this.”

Chesterimp: “The Colchester Chairman has also referred to an initial 25% being looked at (link in the ‘Salary Cap’ thread.)

Clive and Co will have a particular, but not unique, headache because of the number of season ticket holders exceeding capacity, probably for a large part of next season. Whether that is resolved by rota, as has been alluded to earlier, or ‘first come first serve’ match vouchers on the new ticket platform, people will not be happy but they can’t all be accommodated.

As a non-season ticket holder, I’m resigned to seeing very little if any live Imps football other than by stream.

Regarding comments on an earlier post about people likely to not sit in allocated seats, crowding around toilets, etc – any club not enforcing the rules will, I would think, find themselves back behind closed doors in very short order.

Next season will be a test of patience, whatever the arrangements. Lets just all do our bit to ensure dickheads are other clubs’ problems.”

bbh 11: “I personally see one of the biggest problems being at half time when people congregate in one area to use the toilets, even if only a few are let in at a time people will be congregating together while waiting in a closed environment, particularly thinking of co-op upper tier.

At the end of the game, people will still be pushing together to move from the rows of seats onto the congested stairways. Admittedly 25% would clear a lot quicker than 100% capacity. A lot of planning would need to be done.”
