Ahead of today’s match versus Exeter City at St. James’ Park in League One, which will be refereed by Jeremy Simpson, we have done a Q&A with one of their supporters. Thank you to Rick for answering our questions!

QUIZ: How much can you remember last season’s match between Exeter City and Lincoln City at St. James’ Park? Have a go at the quiz at the bottom of the page!

You can discuss what has been said in this article here, or in the comments section at the bottom, as well as get involved with our Exeter City v Lincoln City Match Thread!

How long have you supported Exeter City?

I’ve supported Exeter for three years now. I moved down to Devon and I was desperate to watch my local side regularly. I’ve been a Man Utd supporter all my life and what with being from South East I hardly ever watched them play. So, I thought I’d try Exeter – as an experiment – and I’m in. 100 per cent. Season ticket. The lot.

What are your hopes and expectations for the 2023/24 season?

I’m still really optimistic. I saw more than enough in the first few weeks to make me think we’ve got a chance of getting into the play-offs. And although we’ve had a terrible month, I know we’ll be back beating teams again. (I hope).

What do you think of your manager?

I love Gary. He’s great. I’ve met him a few times through the podcast and he’s really generous with his time and has a great sense of humour. He gives clear, honest interviews after the matches. He says the right things and has been getting us playing good football. I really want him to succeed at Exeter and I am certain he will.

Style of play and tactics – direct/passing/hybrid?

Tactics. I wouldn’t claim to know enough to talk tactics. Pass.

One(s) to watch now and in the future?

I’m a big fan of our two in the middle – Tom Carroll and Ryan Treviit – they are class. When they are in form, the one-touch passing with one another is a joy. Demetri Mitchell has been very dangerous for us as well. Always looking to attack, to take on opponents, and has scored a couple of great goals as well.

Random fact about your Club?

Something about a parrot buried under one of the goals? Might be untrue. But, I’ll go with it.

Which were your favourite and least favourite matches involving Exeter City?

Beating Luton in the Carabao. What a night. Losing against Northampton the next game – I got a strop and left early. Idiot.

Which sides do you think will finish in the top six and which do you think will finish in the bottom four?

Top six. Hmm. Portsmouth, Barnsley, Derby, Bolton, Blackpool, and Exeter.

Bottom four: Cheltenham, Carlisle, Cambridge, and Port Vale.

What are your thoughts on Lincoln City?

I am looking forward to seeing them lose today. In a nice way. Please let us win. We haven’t won for ages. Just let us win. It won’t cause you much harm, to lose today. So just let us. Please.

What is your prediction for this match?

3-0 Exeter – we have to win. I think it could get spicy.
