“I am not exactly sure what some people were expecting from those games.” (opinion)

Following recent defeats at Portsmouth and Peterborough United, it is perhaps worth remembering that The Imps have won comfortably at home versus play-off favourites Wycombe Wanderers and Blackpool, as Scotimp shares his views below:

In the first instance, how do some people expect Lincoln to compete against clubs with far bigger budgets? Clubs with bigger budgets usually have better players, don’t they? That is not difficult to understand. There is a realisation that some would do well to consider: Lincoln are a small club at this level. I’m sorry if that does not fit the narrative, but it is a fact.

How many teams at League One level could then cope with losing their two main strikers long-term? They have also lost their best wing-back and one of the main attacking threats. I fail to see how that is anybody’s fault and worthy of the blame culture some people seem to wallow in. Some idiots have even suggested there should be an investigation into the injuries, which takes my breath away. Complete and utter drivel.

Lincoln have played fifteen matches so far this season, ten of which have been away. That is a challenge, to say the least, and not at all conducive to building any momentum. Three of those away games have been against Bolton (6th), Peterborough (5th) and league leaders Portsmouth, which are our only three league defeats to date. I am not exactly sure what some people were expecting from those games.

Despite all of the above, Lincoln are only five points behind the play-offs with one or two games in hand on those above them. They have played only four league games at home, whereas some sides have played seven. They have beaten play-off favourites Wycombe (3-0) and Blackpool (3-0), yet that seems to have been forgotten because we have just lost to Portsmouth and Peterborough.

Some have such an obvious personal dislike of Mark Kennedy that it injects bile and prejudice into everything they post. Some comments are embarrassing, and from the usual suspects. Perhaps these armchair managers should ring the useless Mark Kennedy and tell him where he is going wrong?
