Hull City (h): Three Things The Imps Need To Do To Win

|

Ahead of tomorrow’s match at home against Hull City in League One, I asked the Vital Lincoln City members what three things they think The Imps need to do to pick up all three points.

You can discuss what has been said in this article HERE, as well as many other topics on our 100% Imps forum! We have also published a Lincoln City v Hull City Quiz, which can be found just below the three things. Every page view helps raise money for Lincoln City Football Club!

Here’s what sedgleyimp said:

1. Keep up the intensity. In the last few games, we have reverted back to a high press game. The Covid break has assisted in some players getting back that extra bit of energy that they were lacking prior to it. We have seen speed of movement and thought return, which had been lacking in the matches leading up to the enforced break. That will need to be maintained against opponents who are one win away from automatic promotion. The likes of Johnson, Rogers, Scully, and Morton will need to press high and not allow their defenders time on the ball. It has worked well the last few games.

2. Be clinical. The last two games have been 1-0 wins. Both have been reasonably comfortable, but such a lead is always precarious. Hull are the type of team who will punish you if you don’t put the game to bed. They have better players than Bristol Rovers and Burton. We cannot afford to waste golden opportunities similar to those we had last Saturday. If nothing else it really doesn’t do much for the health of those of us watching the matches.

3. Enjoy the game. As I’ve already said, if Hull win they will be promoted on Saturday. That knowledge can though cause extra pressure on players and their performance could very easily be affected by it. We can still finish in the automatic positions, and an incredible statement to be able to make in the last week of April. We are however more likely to be looking at those positions between 3rd and 6th and the Play-Offs. With 72 points on the table, that play-off position is probably only 1 win out of 5 away. So we can relax and play our own game on Saturday knowing that the pressure to get over the line falls on Hull.
