Ahead of tomorrow’s FA Cup First Round tie at home versus Morecambe, which will be refereed by Martin Coy, we have done a Q&A with one of their supporters. Thank you to Dom for answering our questions!

NEW QUIZ: How much can you remember about the last time The Imps hosted Morecambe at Sincil Bank? Have a go at the quiz at the bottom of the page or simply CLICK HERE (opens in a new window)!

You can discuss what has been said in this article here, as well as get involved with the pre-match discussion!

How long have you supported Morecambe?

I have supported Morecambe since the 06/07 season, which was our last season in the old Conference Premier. It’s been some rollercoaster ride since those days!

What are your hopes and expectations for the 2023/24 season?

I would hope for a bounce-back promotion back to League One. Derek Adams is one of, if not the best manager around at League Two level, so I would expect that we achieve at least a play-off place. Off the pitch, hopefully, new owners to guarantee the long-term sustainability of the club.

What do you think of your manager?

As above, Derek Adams is one of the best at this level. His style of play is great to watch at its exhilarating best. At worst, it’s a result business and Adams knows how to set his sides up for a scrappy 1-goal win. His interviews are often box office and he doesn’t hide what he thinks. End of story.

Style of play and tactics – direct/passing/hybrid?

I wouldn’t say we’re possession-based, and I think it’s fair to say we play better when we don’t dominate the possession of the ball. That being said, we are excellent in transition and have some exciting, young attacking players.

One(s) to watch now and in the future?

Adam Mayor. He’s the real deal.

Random fact about your Club?

Many moons ago, when Premier League new boys Luton Town were in League Two, we used to compete for The Eric Morecambe Trophy. Morecambe won the inaugural fixture 3-0, with goals from Kevin Ellison, Mark Hughes and Padraig Amond.

Which were your favourite and least favourite matches involving Morecambe?

My favourite match is still the 4-3 home win vs. Crewe Alexandra at Christie Park with a beaded winner from Dave Artell. Least favourite, there are a few notably bad performances in my mind. There was a very drab 0-0 away at Aldershot Town in the 12/13 season that is sticking out as I answer these questions. Which must have been bad considering we’ve lost 7-0 before now.

Which sides do you think will finish in the top six and which do you think will finish in the bottom four?

Top Seven (in no particular order): Stockport County, Notts County, Morecambe, Mansfield, Wrexham, and Accrington Stanley.

And one more of your choice!

Bottom Two: Tranmere Rovers and Grimsby Town.

What are your thoughts on Lincoln City?

Great club with terrific support. We’ve enjoyed many tightly contested games against each other over the years. Hopefully, tomorrow will be just as enjoyable!

What is your prediction for this match?

I’ll go 2-1 Morecambe. We’ve loved a cup run in recent years and our away form has picked up of late. All the best for the rest of the season!
