Ahead of Saturday’s match at home against Wycombe Wanderers in League One, which will be refereed by Adam Herczeg, we have done a Q&A with one of their supporters. Thank you to Ed from their forum for answering our questions!

NEW QUIZ: How much can you remember from the last time the two sides met at Sincil Bank? Have a go at our quiz, which can be found here or below the Q&A!

You can discuss what has been said in this article here or in the comments section at the bottom, as well as get involved in our pre-match threads: Score Predictions & Starting XI and Predict The Attendance.

How long have you supported Wycombe Wanderers?

My first game was our last as a non-league club, the 92/93 FA Trophy Final win over Runcorn. So I’m in my 31st year.

What are your hopes and expectations for the 2023/24 season?

Realistically? Mid-table, with a good run of form in March/April that will later be described as our ‘play-off push.’

What are your views on your manager?

I love Matt Bloomfield. He’s easily in my top five all-time players. I’m still a little bit surprised when I remember he’s our manager, but he was the obvious appointment and the right appointment when Gareth left. We’ve had and will have, some bumps in the road, but he’ll do a good job.

Style of play and tactics – direct/passing/hybrid?

We’re trying to play a more passing/possession game.

One(s) to watch now and in the future?

Chris Forino-Joseph, Josh Scowen, and Max Stryjek.

Random fact about your Club?

There used to be some debate or controversy about whether we were founded in 1884 or 1887. The club used to favour the early date (we celebrated our centenary in 1984) before reverting to 1887 in time for the 125th-anniversary celebrations. I think 1997 is correct.

Which were your favourite and least favourite matches involving Wycombe Wanderers?

My generation of Wycombe supporters has been lucky in that there are so many to choose from. Multiple promotions, and great escapes, appearances in the FA Cup and League Cup semi-finals, a league win at Maine Road. But if I had to choose just one game to live over and over again it would be our FA Cup fifth-round replay win on penalties against Wimbledon in February 2001. No one who was there will ever forget it. I’m not sure I have a least favourite game. Although recently our play-off final defeat to Sunderland in 2022. We spent the whole build-up acting like we were just pleased to be there and never looked like we believed we could win. Probably the only time we saw that from an Ainsworth side.

When do you expect Gareth Ainsworth to take up the reigns again?

At Wycombe Wanderers? I don’t.

Do you expect the current management team to continue with overt time-in-play minimisation tactics or will they be inventive/smarter?

Do I expect the current management team to continue to put us in the best position to win as many football matches as possible? Yes.

Which sides do you think will finish in the top six and which do you think will finish in the bottom four?

In no particular order: Barnsley, Peterborough, Derby, Portsmouth, Blackpool and Charlton.

Morecambe, Fleetwood, Port Vale and Northampton.

What are your thoughts on Lincoln City?

It’s impossible to think of Sincil Bank without remembering our last day of survival there in 98/99. Lincoln have always struck me as a great community club with lots of potential.

If you could steal one Lincoln City player for your own team, who would it be and why?

I’m unfamiliar enough with our players at this stage of the season, let alone anyone else’s!

What is your prediction for this match?

Probably a home win.
