Grimes Off to Pastures New

What little glimmer of hope there was that Ashley Grimes would turn out for Lincoln City evaporated as soon as the first goal went in for Aldershot.

Having already heard the news that Barnet were 1-0 up at Underhill you could feel the collective sigh as supporters at Sincil Bank knew the game was up.

Hopes were that Grimes would stay for a push on promotion in League 2 next season but the truth is hard to take, he had already made his mind up to move elsewhere and with Millwall making him surplus to requirements he will no doubt end up at a Championship or League 1 club.

His 15 League goals probably helped the Imps to a stay of execution but many will remember his partnership with Delroy Facey and the five match winning streak.

With Facey out injured Grimes never really repeated the exploits of previous matches and the goals appeared to dry up. A speel out injured and then suspension didn’t help.

That said Vital Lincoln wish Ashley Grimes all the best for the future and will keep an eye on how he does. Good luck lad!
