Cuts, Cuts and More Cuts

Following the abject defeat at the weekend to Aldershot and subsequent relegation to the Blue Square Bet Premier an emergency board meeting was convened yesterday.

A lot of people at the club will now be sweating on their livelihoods as cuts are bound to have an effect on the non playing staff.

As to the playing budget, if the club have any ambition then that should be kept as high as possible so cuts have to come elsewhere.

Also in doubt must be the expenses required to run a reserve team although this probably isn’t a huge part of the overall budget and will probably depend on the manager who may want to keep it running.

Most at risk must be the youth setup which hasn’t really produced the gems that were hoped for unless some are on the way and we know nothing about them. Some funding used to come from the Football League but that will dry up once parachute payments fizzle out. A much smaller setup might have to be considered if the Imps don’t bounce straight back.

It will be worrying times at Sincil Bank for many, all down to not reaching 50 points. That’s football!
