New Lincoln City striker Ashley Grimes admits he is ‘desperate to play football’ arriving at Sincil Bank for a month’s loan from Championship side Millwall.

The 23-year-old, one of four new arrivals at Sincil Bank this week, hasn’t played first-team football since appearing for the Lions against Walsall back in December, but he should make his Imps debut at Wycombe on Saturday.

‘It hasn’t quite happened for me at Millwall this season and I’m desperate to get back playing again on a Saturday,’ he said. ‘I’m a striker, I like to score goals – I can play in midfield, but I’d rather play up front.

‘I don’t feel under any pressure. Goalscoring is a nice thing and hopefully I’ll get a few goals at Lincoln and hit the ground running early. I’ve been really impressed with the training facilities and I just want the games to come around thick and fast now.’

Grimes made his League debut at Sincil Bank while on loan at Swindon three and a half years ago, but his second debut at the Bank will have to wait until Tuesday night, with a tough trip to Wycombe on the agenda first. He concluded: ‘It won’t be easy, but I’m sure we can get a good result there.’
