Melbourne, Edun, John-Jules all did well. We rode our luck at times with the clearances off the line and Vickers save at the end but I think it was meant to be. Great goal from John-Jules which will give him a lot of confidence hopefully. The only downside was how we allowed them to dominate possession straight after the goal, though it may have allowed us to catch them on the break. Overall, very encouraging performance and much to be getting excited about. Up the Imps.”

We have now beaten Bolton, Blackpool, Ipswich, Peterborough and Sunderland, something that wasn’t even conceivable in my mind when the Cowleys left.
Huge credit has to go to the board for the due diligence they carried out to bring in a manager like Appleton and kudos to Appleton himself for taking over in such tricky circumstances; not complaining about a lack of funds, the quality of what he had to work with or the idolisation of the Cowley’s but going about his job and doing it damn well!
I’m going to go out on a limb here and suggest that we may have found a manager with the potential to better the Cowley’s achievements, by reaching the playoffs during his tenure.”
