Ahead of tomorrow night’s match at home against Doncaster Rovers in League One, I asked the Vital Lincoln City members what three things they think The Imps need to do to pick up all three points.

Here’s what Chimpimp said:

1. Michael Appleton said he hoped he and his staff had made sure that the players realised this was just as hard a game as the two before.

In some ways it is. It’s about the right attitude. If Lincoln approach the game in the right frame of mind, it should be the most straightforward of the three home games but only if.

We know it’s certainly not a formality, given Lincoln only took a point at the Keepmoat and have found 3 home points a rare commodity. So right approach, to bring right result.

2. Having said that, Lincoln also need to demonstrate that the squad now, is not the honest but inert side of the Autumn.

Supporters are still looking down, worried about the relegation places but Lincoln’s players have pace and talent in attack and Doncaster will be concerned.

Confidence should be returning and the players need to play without worry. For if they do there is nothing to worry about.

There should be plenty of good results and performances before May and an assured win on Tuesday could really help them to kick on.

3. That doesn’t mean taking liberties. A clean sheet is the foundation of any victory. There have been too few this season. One tomorrow night and it’s difficult to see beyond a Lincoln win. But a home win and a clean sheet hasn’t been Lincoln City this season. Not yet.

Thank you to Graham Burrell and Lincoln City Football Club for the photograph!
