Ahead of today’s match away at Bristol Rovers in League One, I asked the Vital Lincoln City members what three things they think The Imps need to do to pick up all three points.

Here’s what Chimpimp said:

1. The key to the win against Derby was the intensity of the side without the ball. We were told the players ran 11km and looking back at the match you can certainly believe that stat. It stopped Derby having time and space on the ball and gave Lincoln a foothold in the game, even with only a third of the possession. The same energy and attitude is difficult to replicate only a few days later but will go a long way towards getting Lincoln another 3 points.

2. There were some improved performances on Tuesday. The difference in TJ Eyoma was obvious and Oakley-Boothe and Roughan also had their best games this season. Young players are notoriously inconsistent but also flourish with confidence. So for those players to take encouragement in the knowledge they are good enough and show the same standard against Bristol Rovers will be key.

3. While Lincoln showed they can win a game with only 30 odd% of the ball, it’s not a long-term recipe for success. Winning the midfield battle and playing a bit more football is important. If you have the ball it’s the opposition who have to chase round and you can also draw them on, creating space to unleash our most dangerous players Garrick and Jack Diamond.

Thank you to Graham Burrell and Lincoln City Football Club for the photograph!
