It has been a while since Paul Farman topped the Vital vote, but a couple of fine saves were enough to earn City a replay and a well-deserved average score of 8.00 for the City stopper. This is the fifth time this season that the committed keeper has been the fans’ favourite:

“Vital early saves, commanding and assured throughout” (Chesterimp).

In second place comes Luke Waterfall with his highest mark of the season so far, 7.67. In addition to forming a very solid central partnership with Callum Howe, the City faithful clearly felt Waterfall and Farman were the reason Tranmere were kept at bay:

“Commanding throughout” (RussC)

In joint third we have Waterfall’s partner Howe, the returning Bradley Wood and the tireless Jack Muldoon, suggesting that this performance was more backs to the wall than offensive. A fifth clean sheet in the last eight games also indicates that City are becoming a very solid defensive unit and hard to beat.

The average team score of 6.72 is pretty much par for the course this season: is a draw at Tranmere now de rigeur?

1. Paul Farman 8.00
2. Luke Waterfall 7.67
3. Callum Howe, Bradley Wood, Jack Muldoon 7.00
6. Matt Rhead, Lee Beevers 6.67
8. Alan Power, Greg Tempest, Terry Hawkridge 6.33
11. Liam Hearn 6.00
12. Chris Bush (unwell) 5.67
