A miserable October afternoon saw City go down 1-0 to an impressive Aldershot outfit, after Nat Brown’s aberration saw Brett Williams score from the spot. Here’s how Vital posters rated City’s individual and overall performance.

Fans echoed the sponsors’ decision to hand Paul Farman (7.94) the man of the match award. The Imps’ number one was in inspired form to deny Aldershot a goal from open play, making several fantastic stops in the first half. BrownImp noted that ‘he kept us in the game’ while Bumbleimp praised his ‘three superb saves.’ 7.94 is comfortably Farman’s highest mark of the season, with 7.01 on the opening day at Woking the previous benchmark.

Second place went to Andrew Boyce (6.33) who continues to loiter around the top of the overall standings by virtue of his consistency. Boyce put in a solid display before being used as a makeshift target man for the last twenty/ twenty-five minutes or so. BrownImp and Bumbleimp both wondered why he has not proved more effective on set pieces while bbh11, Red Wimp, Steve O’Dare, Kingearls and Rottweiler were the five posters to offer up scores of 7 for City’s big centre back.

Tom Miller (6.31) came in third place, continuing his near metronomic consistency. Miller was City’s most consistent player last season in terms of player ratings and is looking like replicating the form, being the only player other than Andrew Boyce not to drop below 6. One or two posters noted that he was a little quieter than in previous weeks, but plumbob still argued he was ‘one of our few attacking threats’ while Snats mused that he was ‘probably the best of the back four.’

Less positive were the marks for Alan Power and Adi Yussuf who both scored under 5 (4.94 and 4.63 respectively). Several posters noted that Yussuf wasn’t match fit and that they wouldn’t be too harsh? before giving him marks of 3 or 4! There were some faint murmurs of praise though, with BrownImp suggesting there is a ‘good player there’ while some backed him over Nick Wright. Power meanwhile was widely criticised for his performance which came after another no-show versus Tamworth, although Kingearls argued that he was ‘starved of the ball’ hence the limited impact. Nat Brown still made it over 5 (5.13) despite his bizarre handball, with bbh 11 even giving him a mark of 7!

In terms of posters and the highest scorer was tornado imp, who came in at 6.33. That’s a marked contrast with many posters who scored in the low 5s, with Steve O’ Dare and Julestheimp the joint lowest (scores of 5 apiece). The average score this week was 5.65.
