Following the 2-0 win away at AFC Wimbledon in League One, I asked the Vital Lincoln City members what three things they learned from the match.

Here’s what PWould said:

1. At last, we managed to win ugly. It was not a convincing ball-playing performance, but we dug in and ground out the victory. Arguably the first win of the whole season where we have not played well but showed grit and character to get us over the line.

2. It was a mixed bag from individuals. Praise deserved for Wright, Poole, Walsh, Fiorini, Whittaker in the first half, Marquis, Hopper, and Bishop. The rest were very average at best. Appleton deserves credit for the way we saw out the game, and persevering with two up top. Less credit, maybe for the predictable underwhelming midfield unit. This has been the catalyst, in my view for the underperforming season as a whole.

3. Credit to Marquis and Hopper for their work rate, even though the service to them was generally poor. This was exemplified by Marquis for the second goal, which effectively, killed the tie. Special praise for the imps fans, who were the 12th man to great effect.
