AFC Wimbledon 0-2 Lincoln City: Match Stats & Views From The Forum

|

Views from Brendan Bradley following Saturday’s 2-0 win away at AFC Wimbledon in League One: “Awful game. I’m delighted we got those 3 points but it was DESPITE our performance not because of it.

After the ridiculous (on all levels) sending off I accept they had to dig in but apart from the last 20 minutes of the first half we were really lacklustre and at the point of the dismissal we were on the verge of conceding.

The points are worth celebrating but not the manner of them.

As for the second goal, although I gleefully posted something about it, Wimbledon were not actually playing the ball around at the back

They took a throw on the half way line back to the keeper who had come 35 yards out with the intention of hoofing it forwards. But he took a bad first touch and Marquis managed to charge it down.

That game was not a blueprint for the future, up to the sending off we were being outfought.

Oh, and if VAR was in operation we would have conceded a penalty. If the Wimbledon player hadn’t made such an exaggerated swan dive he may have got it because it was a foul by Wright.”

PerthImp: “ABSOLUTELY SUPERB performance from the 10 men. BNC – red mist and inexperience. He’ll learn from it. Hopper & Marquis absolutely brilliant – if the young players don’t learn from that – how to see a game out in the worst circumstances. Marquis absolutely brilliant challenging the keeper and having the cool to pass superbly for Bishop to finish – won the game for us. Poole & Walsh great at the back and Jackson did what was needed replacing Eyoma, who did not have a good game. The result is all and this should ease the worries a little. Well done Imps and great support from the 800 odd fans that sang their hearts out. 👏👏”

Skip155: “If you look at the 4, 6, 8 and 10 match form guides we’re averaging at least a point a game across all of them. In terms of a relegation battle we’re not hot and we’re not cold. We just need to maintain that kind of ‘consistency’ which is absolutely fine for the position we’re in.”

imps_joe: “Huge win that and I think we can all sleep a bit easier now, especially given most other results and that we have a game in hand.

Great bottle to go on and win the game when down 10. Even better to get a rare clean sheet!

Another super Saturday for Lincoln!”
