When John Deehan signed Paul Green from Aston Villa you got the feeling we were getting someone with talent. That talent would remain hidden for a while as two management teams played the versatile lad at left back, arguably Paul`s only weak position.
Nearly forgot Paul also bravely played an entire season suffering from the effects of a mal-formed hip putting off an operation until the summer. After recuperating he got back to fitness and got the Green light to play again over the festive period.
With his contract up for renewal Paul showed his willingness, versatility and ability as a central defender and right back to deservedly cement a new one year deal on Monday despite the interest of Geoff Horsfield at Port Vale.
Greeny loves the Imps and we can count on him to eclipse his player of the year standards of 2008 when year 126 kicks off.
