Lincoln City midfielder Alex Woodyard has handed the Imps a major summer boost by agreeing a new deal until the end of the 2019 season.

The club’s Player of the Year was in high demand this summer, with the likes of Aston Villa and Scunthorpe rumoured to be interested in his services, with the latter ready to offer him a rumoured £100,000 signing-on fee, as well as doubling his wages, to head up the A15 to Glanford Park.

Boss Danny Cowley was quick to act as the vultures circled, offering him and highly-rated defender Sean Raggett new deals, and with Woodyard putting pen to paper, it remains to be seen whether his ex-Dover colleague will follow his lead.
