How Long Have You Supported Guiseley?

I have supported Guiseley for around 10-11 years now.

Last Season’s League Finish?

5th in the then Conference North, occupying the last place in the playoffs. No one would have predicted the end to the season, beating AFC Fylde over two legs in the semi-finals then going on to beat Chorley 3-2 in the final after being 2-0 down at half-time and playing at their ground.

What Do You Think Of Your Manager?

Mark Bower has done a fantastic job, when you consider this is his first management job too it is even more remarkable. He came so close to getting us promoted in his first season in charge. Then in his first full season in charge we managed to finish in the playoffs and then win them at the fifth time of asking!

Hopes/Expectations This Season?

I just hope we stay up, whilst that may sound a bit negative I think we should consolidate this season and then look to push on next season if we dod manage to stay in the league.

One(s) To Watch?

Will Hatfield and Anthony Dudley are two of our key players, both are key to our attacking play and Dudley is an exciting prospect. Dudley appears to have struck up a partnership with Adam Boyes and Hatfield is our engine room really. He never stops running and has looked a solid candidate for player of the season so far. Gavin Rothery also is key to our creative play and has been involved in a lot of our goals this season.

You signed few players in the summer. Have you now felt the need to strengthen during the January transfer window?

We have picked up a few players to strengthen us throughout the season too, Dudley and Hurst stand out as real coups for us, hopefully Dudley manages to fully see out his loan this time round, we just have to hope Bury don’t want to recall him again! I think Mark is still on the hunt for one more player, I feel this maybe at the top end of the pitch as we can be short of goals at times.

Out of your 15 away games, you’ve won two and only scored 11. Is there a particular reason you think this is the case?

I think we tend to set up to win at home then look not to get beat away, this often sees us creating little and when we do create we just aren’t clinical enough to stick the chances away. Also with the standard being much higher now than what we are used to our home form appears to be even more vital to us staying in the league.

Draws seem to be the reason why you’re not more around mid-table. Are they generally draws from losing positions, or a signal of just not quite having that little bit of quality in the final third and turn them into wins?

A bit of both really, sometimes we may fight our way back into the game but also sometimes we do not finish off enough of the chances we create

Top five predictions?

Cheltenham, FGR, Eastleigh, Grimsby and Woking. Cheltenham have been the best side we have faced this season but FGR always seem to grind out a win or a draw somehow, Eastleigh are the best team to come to Nethermoor and looked a real playoff contender. Grimsby seem to be just out of reach of Cheltenham and FGR but I think the will finish up there. Woking may be surprise inclusion for some but they score goals for fun and I think that will be enough for them.

Bottom four predictions?

Kidderminster, Welling, Altrincham and Boreham Wood. Whilst I think Kidderminster were unlucky in their two games against us they just do not seem to have enough quality up top. Welling didn’t really impress me in both of our matches against them however their new manager could bring an uplift in form. Altrincham appear to have been struggling all season long, whilst their win against Woking on Tuesday night was a big one I just don’t think they have enough quality. Boreham Wood are another team who have been at the wrong end for too long, our second to last game is at their place, that could be crucial.

Thoughts on Lincoln City?

A big club who on size should be a lot higher up the table but a slump in form recently have pulled them into the bottom half. I am really looking forward to my first visit to Sincil Bank having seen it on the TV a lot when I was growing up it looks like a top Non League ground. I think Lincoln are a good club and will one day get back into the Football League as the city is big enough to support that.

Score Prediction?

I am going to go for a 2-1 win for ourselves, we are unbeaten this year so far and have won our last two away games.
