How Long Have You Supported Cheltenham?
21 years and counting – first game was a friendly against a Man City XI in July 1994.
Last Season’s League Finish?
23rd in League 2 and relegation from the Football League after 16 pretty successful years
What Do You Think Of Your Manager?
A breath of fresh air compared to the last one. He came to us in a no-lose situation (take us down and its expected, keep us up and he’s a hero) and then has decided to stay on and try and get us back up. By and large he’s been a success wherever he’s been (Cobblers aside) so let’s hope that continues.
Hopes/Expectations This Season?
Paul Baker, our chairman, has made it clear that promotion is a necessity budget-wise. I think we need to at least be knocking on the door. Playoffs at least for me.
One(s) To Watch?
I’ve not seen much in pre-season, but at the one game I did go to Billy Waters who we’ve signed from Crewe looks a bit special.
Were you in agreement with Gary Johnson over the released list? As expected?
Very much so. Only one player really came out of last season with any credit and that was Trevor Carson. He made it clear on the last day of the season he was off. Looking at our squad now, I can’t see a single player we released making the starting line-up. We had an awful, awful squad last season.
Relegation from the FL usually means several things, one of which is cost cutting. You`re obviously in a position where you`ll get parachute payments, but what cost cutting has taken place in the summer?
We appear to have done ok, our physio of 14 years (Ian Weston) has upped sticks to FGR, but has been replaced. There are rumours that is down to costcutting. The main one I’ve noticed is our season tickets now no longer being a booklet but just a ticket for every game (see my pic in the tinpot thread).
A former Imp, Trevor Carson, moved on in the summer. How did he do for you?
As I said before, the only player to come out of last season with any credit. Some CTFC fans have gone a bit overboard in their praise of him, I feel, but you can’t lay any of the blame for relegation at his door. Hartlepool have done well to get him.

Thoughts on Lincoln City?
Always had a bit of a soft-spot for Lincoln. Been there once and it was an enjoyable game. Met some nice people in the club bar before the game as well. Will always be grateful for John Finnigan.
Score Prediction?
We don’t usually start the season well, but I’ll have to go 2-0 to the Robins.
Random Fact About Your Club?
In 07/08 we did the League double over Leeds United. Only 15/16 years before we were relegated from the Conference whilst they were being crowned Champions of England.
