How Long Have You Supported Cambridge United?

13 years.

What Do You Think Of Your Manager?

Indifference mainly, although this often becomes something stronger after a particularly bad loss a la last weekend.

Hopes/Expectations This Season?

As with most football fans, this is a two part question. A play-off finish is what I hope for, and should, realistically be what is expected, but it appears that this season we are (again) going to fall short. I expect we will finish around where we did last season.

One(s) To Watch?

Jevani Brown – Many Cambridge fans were very worried about Luke Berry’s departure, myself included, but Brown has come in from non-league and really hit the ground running. Big Uche Ikpeazu is a real force up top, and Brad Halliday is one of the best full backs in the league.

Top Seven Predictions?

Notts County
Luton
Exeter
Coventry
Wycombe
Mansfield
Accrington

Bottom Two Predictions?

Morecambe
Forest Green

Thoughts on Lincoln City?

Obviously you gained a lot of attention with that extraordinary FA Cup run last year, and won the title pretty comfortably. League 2 is often a much harder league than clubs managing to make it out of the conference anticipate, as Forest Green are finding out, but Lincoln are backed by massively increased crowds and will be perfectly comfortable this year I think. I give you one year of finding your feet before you become a real force in this league, especially if you can keep hold of the Cowley brothers.

Score Prediction?

2-1 Lincoln.

Random Fact About Your Club?

I think we held the record of longest winless streak in the Football League for a while, 31, during the 1983-4 season.

What are your proudest and most embarrassing moments as a Cambridge United Supporter?

Proudest is definitely winning the play-off final to get back into the league, although it was definitely the most nervous I’ve been as well!

Do you have a Supporters Trust and what role do they play at the Club?

We do, and they do a lot of good work, but fans appear to be getting increasingly frustrated with them and they seem to be a less vociferous presence than they once were.

Which was your favourite match involving Cambridge United?

Winning the play off final. The Man Utd game in the FA Cup was incredible, and the financial benefits were too, but there was no real pressure on the game, I could enjoy the occasion much more. The sheer emotion and sense of what getting promoted meant to the whole football club after 9 years in the conference, means that promotion is definitely my favourite match, although it certainly didn’t feel like it at the time.

Which was your least favourite match involving Cambridge United?

Losing 5-0 to Histon in the FA Trophy. What a gutless, cowardly display that was, and all against a local village.
