The last time The Imps played tomorrow’s opponents at home was on Saturday 29th January 2022, in front of a crowd of 9,159, including 450 away supporters. The visitors won 2-1 that day, thanks to goals scored by Joe Powell (56′) and Sam Hughes (80′) after John Marquis had given City the lead in the 49th minute.

Ahead of tomorrow’s match, we have done a Q&A with a Burton Albion supporter, so thank you to Jack for answering our questions!

You can discuss what has been said in this article HERE, as well as get involved with our pre-match threads: You can post your score predictions, discuss the starting XI, and predict the attendance!

We have also published a quiz about the last time the two sides met at Sincil Bank, which can be found HERE, or at the bottom of the page!

How long have you supported Burton Albion?

I’ve supported Burton for around ten years and had a season ticket for the last eight.

Where did you finish last season?

We finished 16th last season.

What do you think of your manager?

Dino took over a desperately struggling team. He improved the results, which in fairness was not too hard to do, but has the support of many fans, and comes across as genuine and understanding. Burton may be in a struggle, but Maamria has the support of the majority of Burton supporters.

What are your hopes and expectations for the 2022/23 season?

Avoiding relegation is the only hope and expectation that can be levied at the team at the minute. We have left ourselves in a dire position, and an upturn in performances and results is needed to keep Burton in League One.

One(s) to watch?

Victor Adebayajo. One of the top scorers in the league, and has been Burton’s frontman since Ahadme joined Ipswich in late August. If Burton manage to get balls into the box, he always finds space to slot away.

Which teams do you think will finish in the top six in League One?

I think the top two will be Plymouth and Sheffield Wednesday. Followed by Ipswich, Derby, Barnsley, and Peterborough.

Which teams do you think will finish in the bottom four in League One?

Ideally, I think Forest Green, MK Dons, Morecambe, and Accrington will go down, but I can easily see Burton slipping in instead of MK.

What are your thoughts on Lincoln City?

Lincoln have had a comparable story to Burton, rising up the leagues quickly. Their iconic FA Cup run has certainly framed the club into what it is today.

What do you think the score will be?

2-1 to Burton, optimistically.

Random fact about your Club?

The Stig, well known for BBC’s Top Gear, is a Burton fan.

If you could steal one Lincoln City player for your own team, who would it be and why?

Paudie O’Connor. To be honest, I haven’t seen too much of Lincoln this season, but O’Connor seems a solid centre-half, and plays in a position where Burton are lacking considerable depth and quality at the moment.

What are your proudest and most embarrassing moments as a Burton Albion supporter?

You could almost roll these two questions into one game, our 9-0 defeat away at Man City in the semi-final of the Carabao Cup. A sucker punch of a defeat, but there was still a sense of celebration, and pride, that we had progressed so far in the competition.

Who would you say is your most underrated player?

Sam Hughes. Hughes was a rock at the back, providing a threat in both boxes. Burton have missed him since he got injured.

Do you have a Supporters Trust and what role do they play at the Club?

There is no supporter’s trust.

Which was your favourite match involving Burton Albion?

I think Sunderland 1-2 Burton Albion was the match that really summed up what Burton achieved in their Championship years. 1-0 down, and, in the context relegated, the Brewers came back with two 90+ minute goals to not only keep Burton up to fight another day, but also relegating Sunderland in the process. I have never seen scenes like it in an away end before, or since.

Which was your least favourite match involving Burton Albion?

Maybe I’m conferring to recency bias here, but the 5-0 thrashing by Morecambe a few weeks back was very painful. A 6-hour round trip, on New Year’s Day, to watch a team fail to have a shot on target, was not ideal.

Do you have a Former Players Association at Burton Albion?

There is no former players association.

What is the best thing about Burton?

The Beer. Burton has a rich and often unspoken history of providing the country with beer. It still has giants like Molson Coors brewing within the town, and its smaller, more local breweries certainly provide beers that can be enjoyed locally.
