Thank you to Bromley FC supporter Charlie for answering the Questions below!

How Long Have You Supported Bromley?

I have supported Bromley since I was a little boy. I’m still young (17) so I have been supporting the club for over a decade now.

Last Season’s League Finish?

Last season Bromley finished in the highest position in their entire history, by winning The Conference South. This beat the club record set the previous season of a 3rd place finish in the same division. Considering where the club was little over a decade ago, it is unbelievable to see where we are now.

What Do You Think Of Your Manager?

The manager is an absolute legend. Honestly love the guy. He has turned us from a club hovering around the Ryman Divisions to a club in the top tier of non-league football. He has been criticised in the past a few times, but I have always kept my faith in him. He has put up with a lot of rubbish that has been thrown at him over the years but ultimately, he loves the club with a passion and has been pivotal to get where we are today.

Hopes/Expectations This Season?

Honestly, this season the one target is to stay up. If that happens then it has been a successful season. However, we are doing so well that I think it’s only natural to dream about what could be! However, I have always been first to keep my feet on the ground and not get carried away. As long as the players put in their best efforts, then I can’t ask anymore than that.

One(s) To Watch?

Moses Emmanuel. The guy is absolute quality, and his record this season speaks for itself. Another one is Anthony Cook. Don’t think that I have ever seen him have a bad game for Bromley. His skill is incredible and can change the game at any moment.

Those are 2 players that we will do well to hold on to for the season.

Another is Jack Holland. Probably the most versatile player to have ever set foot on a football pitch. Originally a centre-back (as the number 6 on the back of his shirt would suggest) he has been playing up front for a lot of this season, and been doing a fantastic job of it too!

You’ve conceded nearly 3 times as many goals on the road than at home. Is this due to your style of play and why you’re joint top scorers in the league?

To be honest, it’s hard to say. We have already hammered a few teams this season, but will then go and get beaten 4-0 in the next game! To be honest, I think that a lot of the goals that we conceded earlier on in the season was down to perhaps inexperience and the fact that the squad was getting used to the league. I am confident however, that as the season goes on our defensive record will improve.

As for style of play, I think it has surprised us all by how free flowing the team look. We are playing without fear and at times look like we have been in this league for years. A great example was Wrexham on the opening game of the season when we tore them to shreds in the first half. As for away games though, it is a lot more common for the home side to not sit back as much and go for it, which is perhaps why we have conceded 3x as many goals away than at home. Can’t complain though as we are making up for that with the goals that we are scoring!

Your record against bottom half sides is very good (7 wins in 9) but less impressive against top half sides (2 wins in 9). Is this likely to see you finish mid-table, or do you think you have the quality to continue to challenge for a Play-Off place?

The fact that this question doesn’t mention the R word is quite promising! I think that for this season at least, a mid-table finish is more than good enough. I am dreaming of the play-offs though and wouldn’t write it off!

You had a relatively quiet summer in the transfer market. Do you believe this has contributed to your decent start?

I think most certainly. The togetherness of the squad is clear and by not changing it too much the team have benefited from it. We did bring in a few players however, for example Alex Wall from Luton and Ben Chorley from Portsmouth. Wall has really struggled to get into the team at times this season, but it feels like Ben Chorley has been there all along! He has fitted into the squad fantastically well and he is forming a great partnership with our Captain Rob Swaine.

Moses Emmanuel is your, and the leagues, top scorer with 13. A player who’s overachieving or one who is destined to move onto better things in January or at the end of the season?

As I have mentioned before, we will do very well to hold onto him. I think that it’s pretty 50/50 whether he will stay here or not but I’m hoping he stays. We absolutely love him!

Ex-Imps Joe Anderson and Ali Fuseini are in your squad. How have they both performed for you?

Both have been fantastic since their respective arrivals at Bromley. Joe Anderson absolutely puts his heart and soul into the cause and there was a time a few years ago that Ali Fuseini was literally carrying us. He departed the club for a short while and we lost I think every single league game for the rest of the season after that. Luckily, he returned and continued from where he left off, except this time he isn’t carrying us on his own anymore which is good!

Thoughts on Lincoln City?

Compared to us, I consider Lincoln City as a big club. I still find it incredible we are in the same league as teams such as you lot. May sound silly, but I remember when we had to visit some horrible places on our travels!

Score Prediction?

Think this has the ingredients to be a good game this one. I’m going for a 2-2 draw.

Random Fact About Your Club?

Our record attendance was set in a friendly against the Nigeria national team. Nigeria played the match in bare feet! (No idea why, but that’s a true fact!)

Thanks for letting me do this interview, all the best.
