After Saturday afternoons 2-1 win at Macclesfield Town in Sky Bet League Two, we asked our members what three tings they learned.

Here’s what graemetheexile said:

1. We need to finish teams off when we are dominating the game, which we didn’t do today and have failed to do in previous matches this season (and indeed last season).

2. In tight matches, Lincoln City can’t afford to allow a sloppy 10 minutes, where we give the ball away far too much for our own good and concede silly free kicks in dangerous areas – that only invites pressure on our back line from set pieces and leads to the inevitable goal, as we saw late on today.

3. Despite scoring the winning goal from a corner kick (Shackell needs a song), our set piece routines aren’t as potent as they once were, for instance in the wonderful National League title-winning season, and the squad needs to place extra focus and put more work in on them on the training ground in the week (sorry assistant manager Nicky Cowley, we love you).

Thank you to Graham Burrell and Lincoln City Football Club for the photograph!
