“We gave them a real game at their place in January and we have the players to stretch them on Wednesday.”

Ahead of tomorrow night’s match against Premier League side Everton in the Second Road of the Carabao Cup, we asked our members what three things they think The Imps need to do to make it through to the Third Round.

Here’s what sedgleyimp said:

1. Don’t give them too much respect. Everton are a good team no doubt about it but they have made a number of changes over the close season and are still bedding their team down. I don’t think Silva knows exactly what is his best 11 or his best formation is as yet and as evidenced by their performance at Aston Villa on Friday night they are beatable. We gave them a real game at their place in January and we have the players to stretch them on Wednesday.

2. Be clinical. We are making plenty of chances as evidenced in the Milton Keynes and Doncaster Rovers games but we didn’t put them away in either of those games. Chances need to be taken against Premier League opposition as they won’t allow you too many.

3. Be careful at the back. We don’t know as yet whether Everton will rotate their squad for Wednesday. Either way, they have players who can punish teams from dead-ball situations. If Sigurdsson plays don’t give him a sight of goal from a free-kick near the box. He will punish you. If Baines makes a rare appearance he is still a danger from dead-ball situations. Basically no silly free kicks near the box.
