Steve Tilson has moved quickly to bolster his squad further before the tricky away tie at Adams Park against Wycombe Wanderers. Adding to the signings already made comes a loan signing from Millwall.

Described as an attacking midfielder / striker 23 year old Ashley Grimes started his footballing career with a boys club in Salford before being noticed by scouts from Manchester United.

He spent two years in the academy at Old Trafford before moving on to try his luck at near neighbours Bolton Wanderers but was released at the age of 16. A move across to the blue side of Manchester followed his release and a loan spell at Swindon in March 2007 saw him make four substitute appearances before he was again on the move.

Joining Millwall on a free transfer in August 2008 Grimes went on to score his first senior goal against Chester in a 3-0 FA Cup win. His first League goal came in a 3-1 win away at Cheltenham.

Since then the 5′ 11′ Swinton born player has turned out 30 times for Millwall and scored four goals. Not the prolific striker we had hoped but Tilson has probably done his homework and thinks Grimes can cut the mustard at League 2 level. After all Manchester United must have seen something in him at a young age!
