Ahead of tomorrow night’s match at home against AFC Wimbledon in League One, I asked the Vital Lincoln City members what three things they think The Imps need to do to pick up all three points.

Here’s what sedgleyimp said:

1. Get the ball into the box and get the players in there to take advantage. The biggest difference last Saturday from the first half to the second was the number of bodies we put into the penalty area when attacking. In the first half Robson put in a couple of superb crosses from the left but we frequently had one or even no players in the box to take advantage. The second half it was a very different story with often four of five players being inside the 18-yard box looking to get on the end of a cross or through ball. This led directly to both of our goals. Charlton had to put numbers back and as seen with the opening own-goal, sheer numbers in the box from both sides can end up with the ball in the net.

2. Play the strongest available team. There might be some who are looking beyond this match to Saturday’s match at Wednesday and the visit to Wigan next Tuesday. Some will think it better to rest the likes of Walsh and Maguire so they are fit for those future games. The reality is though this match is one which we are the favourites and should be looking for 3 points from. Anything else will be a disappointment. The away games coming up are going to be hard, and ones which any points gained will be considered a bonus. So this is the game which we need to ensure that we get the win from to take momentum into those. To do that we need our best players playing.

3. Continue the momentum from Saturday. You could see what that last-minute winner did for the players and even the supporters last Saturday. Everyone was beaming. So take that feeling into Tuesday’s game and we will come out on top.

Thank you to Graham Burrell and Lincoln City Football Club for the photograph!
