Three Things The Imps Need To Do To Beat Fleetwood Town

Ahead of tomorrow’s match at home against Fleetwood Town in League One, I asked the Vital Lincoln City members what three things they think The Imps need to do to pick up all three points.

Here’s what Impala said:

1. Play the game not the occasion.

It will be an emotional atmosphere for many fans at Sincil Bank we welcome fans back (other than the 3,000 for the Sunderland play-off). Only a handful of players will have worn the Lincoln shirt in front of a rocking Co-op stand.

While it hopefully will be a memorable occasion, it’s important that we pick up three points from home games like this and build up some momentum ahead of more tricky-looking games.

2. Robust defence.

We’ve seen our young goalkeeper and injury-hit defence surrender leads in both opening games to date. Managing games out will be important to success, especially at home where our record was not so good last season.

3. Win the midfield battle.

Fleetwood have played three at the back in both games to date. Winning the midfield battle and providing space for our pacey wide players will be important. Several visitors packed midfield at Sincil Bank last season with some degree of success.

Thank you to Graham Burrell and Lincoln City Football Club for the photograph!
