11,000 fans went to a celebration turned tragedy 22 years ago. Of the 56 who died, two were lifelong Imp fans, Bill Stacey and Jim West. As a memorial to two loyal fans who grew up on the Railway end, Lincoln City named its new home end ‘Stacey-West Stand’ when it was redeveloped in 1990.

The teams will run out to the famous You’ll never walk alone song which reached number one 1 on June 1 1985 helping to push the fund to £3.5 million. Gerry Marsden of Gerry and the Pacemakers formed possibly the ultimate supergroup known as the crowd (Tony Christie, Rick Wakeman, John Conteh, The Barron Knights, Jess Conrad, Kiki Dee, Bruce Forsyth, the Foxes, Rolf Harris, Graham Gouldman, Kenny Lynch, Keith Chegwin, Tony Hicks, Colin Blunstone, Tim Hinckley, Johnny Logan, Zak Starkey, Girlschool, Black Lace, John Otway, Gary Holton, Peter Cook, the Nolans, John Entwistle of The Who, Motörhead, Karen Clark, Dave Lee Travis, Graham Dene, Ed Stewart, Phil Lynott, Smokie, Joe Fagin, Eddie Harding, Gerard Kenny, Chris Robinson, Tim Healy, Kin Kelly, John Verity, Rose Marie, David Shilling, Chris Norman, Pete Spencer and Bernie Winters.
Paul McCartney contributed some words on the B-side of the record.)

There will also be a minutes silence before kickoff. Then two rivals will be able to finish a game after 22 years. A great game would be a fitting tribute to Bill, Jim, the 54 Bradford fans and hundreds of others scarred for life.

Perhaps they may rest easier. God rest there souls.
