The Rivalry of these two sides spans three centuries. Indeed the hospitable Northolme was the scene of our first triumph in 1886/87. But the Northolme is no prawn sandwich picnic. However the food is superb, perfect fayre for football fans past and present. The Trinity squad reflected this in spades, showing substance above finesse, industry and endeavour of the finest order. We were ‘The Promenaders`, hitting a physical side on the break. One move saw thirty unbroken passes, with oley Oakes Kerr and Kovacs dug deep. Beevers to be fair was Beevers, receiving his mandatory treatment for bravery. . The no4 and 5 were particularly big lads who took no prisoners, as Boro huffed and puffed at the house built of Kovacs. What a player. Come sunshine at Sincil or mud bath at Morecambe, this is truly the giant of the Imps.

Half time saw Trinity come in having shaded the chances. Three superb Oakes passes apart. The third was a forty five yarder crossfield to Lenny that saw applause from the rank and file. The first a thirty yard effortless spray to King, what a prospect.. Instinctive kill from the Beach boy. Then he was off only to be pushed off the field of play. The second saw the pitching wedge find Lenny, the Ian Wright of Sincil Swank. He came he went he found the middle, but alas Big Ben was shopping! Wright was missed today on so many occasions. Indeed it would be unfair to criticise Gall today without his partner in crime. This lad will feed on the knockdown, his pace and battling characteristics will net him double figures by seasons end alone.

The Imps sent on Pembleton, Graham and Hamilton, and invigoration flowed through the Imps. We had the lion`s share of the opening 10 minutes. Then Kovacs rose high to head wide from a corner. But wait the Giant of the imps appeared slain. Groggy though able to walk off with his Lordship he appeared to either break his nose or be concussed; neither should rule him out of the opening game on August the 2nd or 9th. .
Trialist Hamilton then contrived a unique piece of skill. His pace and player nullification saw him beat two before playing into to left hand side of the area. King drilled home from 12 yards to the nearside of the keeper. Green moments later Mullarkey, his first touch, literally, fed Freck who hammered home from 10 yards.

We went to sleep again after that. The Imps do appear destined for greatness this year and this had a big eye of Sauron on next week. We can do it, we just need to nail down Patulea. Didn`t score, did play and looked hungry.
