“The fact we can get players like him on loan shows how far we’ve advanced in the last three years.”

|

Following Saturday’s 2-0 win at home against Fleetwood Town in Sky Bet League One, we asked our members what three things they learned from the match.

Here’s what sedgleyimp said:

1. We are such an organised team. Fleetwood may have had a lot of the ball yesterday but we kept our shape throughout and at no point did they really look like threatening our goal. You can see how much hard work goes in on the training pitch as all the players know where they should be to prevent the opponents from getting into dangerous positions and they work as a unit to maintain that.

2. Pretty possession football is all well and good but you’ve got to have something more than that. Fleetwood yesterday had more possession than us but never looked capable of using it to get a goal. We have developed into a good passing team thanks to the summer purchases but we also have that bit extra where we can step up the tempo and be decisive as evidenced by both goals yesterday.

3. I appreciate that it’s only one game but if Eric Dier is good enough as a defensive midfielder for England I look forward to the number of International caps Callum Connolly will win during his career. A debut full of confidence and ability. The fact we can get players like him on loan shows how far we’ve advanced in the last three years and the value of good connections at manager and board level.
