A superb battling performance from the Imps saw them gain another point away at Macclesfield last night but it should really have been three.

Many will blame Ben Hutchinson for the lost two points following his sending off in the 61st minute after kicking the ball away after referee Chris Sarginson had blown for a foul and Hutchinson got his second yellow card of the match.

Since then Hutchinson has apologised to supporters on Twitter but many feel he has blown his chances of a deal at the Imps.

The highlight in the first half was the delightful strike from Stephen Hunt who hit the ball with his supposed weaker right foot to put City 1-0 up.

Once Hutchinson had left for his early bath it was Macclesfield who laid siege to the City goal and in stoppage time breached the Imps defence with a goal from Sam Wedgebury.

The game turned on the sending off but at the end of the day these things happen in football and you move on.

A visit to Stevenage on Saturday beckons but the Imps will be without influential captain and makeship winger Delroy Facey who was whisked off th hospital after a bad fall and a possible dislocated shoulder.
