Ahead of Tuesday night’s match between Lincoln City and Shrewsbury Town at Sincil Bank in League One, which will be refereed by Marc Edwards, we have done a Q&A with one of their supporters, so thank you to Dave for answering our questions!

How long have you supported Shrewsbury Town?

Well, my first game was in 1967 aged five. I started going home and away in 1978.

What were and now are your hopes and expectations for the 2023/24 season?

Hmm, good question we had a lot of turmoil pre-season with Steve Cotterill leaving or being relieved of the manager role and then recruiting a head coach, head of football, and head of finance. But not spending any money in the transfer market so expectations were low.

What are your views on your manager?

Matt Taylor was sacked a few weeks back and since bringing Paul Hurst back the atmosphere around the club has changed totally and we’re playing much better football and attacking a lot more.

What are your views on your January transfer business?

Poor we were promised. Ew recruits by our old head coach Matt Taylor and the hierarchy at the club but nothing happened except late in the window a new manager.

Was it time for Steve Cotterill to go or would things be better with him?

The club were not going to back him financially. Yes, it would have been better than the Matt Taylor 6 months in charge but all the rumours were no money to spend.

Style of play and tactics – direct/passing/hybrid?

With Paul Hurst in charge, we now play a more offensive style of play with two wide men who also drop back to bolster the midfield and we are at last a big threat at set pieces.

One(s) to watch now and in the future?

Now, well, Tom Bayliss and Jordan Shipley on their day are both threatening and can be Championship quality with consistency.

In the future, a young centre-back Jason Sraha will be class after injuries away at Reading he should be playing on Tuesday.

Random fact about your Club?

The all-time leading goal scorer in English league football played and managed Shrewsbury Town  – Arthur Rowley.

Which were your favourite and least favourite matches involving Shrewsbury Town?

My Favourite has to be Chelsea 2 Shrewsbury 4 in the old Division 2 (Championship).

My least favourite is LINCOLN AT Wembley. GRRRR.

Which sides do you think will finish in the top six and which do you think will finish in the bottom four?

The top six go with the money, Pompey, Derby, Bolton, Barnsley, Posh then anyone from the five others.

What are your thoughts on Lincoln City?

Being a Shrewsbury season ticket holder and living just outside Lincoln I know quite a lot and read the reports in the local rag. I also have a few mates who are season ticket holders. Lincoln are a solid top-ten side don’t concede many have you got the goal scorers to make a late play-off charge?

If you could steal one Lincoln City player for your team, who would it be and why?

Your goalkeeper. Hopefully, he will be very busy on Tuesday…

What is your prediction for this match?

My heart says 1-1, my head says 1-0 Lincoln.
