Ahead of tomorrow’s match away at Portsmouth in League One, I asked the Vital Lincoln City members what three things they think The Imps need to do to pick up all three points.

Here’s what sedgleyimp said:

1. Quieten the crowd. Portsmouth’s fans have a reputation for being quite vociferous. When their team is on form and winning games they can be a huge boost for their team. The opposite though is also the case. If you believe all the stories that are in print at the moment there does seem to be a significant number of their supporters who are not happy with how their team is performing. That can have a bearing on how Friday’s game pans out. If we can quieten their support or even better, get them onto their players it will affect Portsmouth’s performance.

2. Play with a high tempo. We don’t have a team with an excessive amount of pace. Norton-Cuffy might be back for the match, but him alone won’t make that significant amount of difference. What we must do though is play with a tempo by using the football quicker. On Saturday we often decided to slow down the play and go backwards when a higher tempo just might have resulted in the runs being made by Cullen and others being spotted and an opportunity made.

3. Be clinical. Wigan showed on Saturday what a successful team does. They put away chances when they fall to them. There was not much between us and the league leaders last Saturday but when they made a chance they scored. We need to do this in a match where chances might be at a premium.
