Ahead of tomorrow’s match at home against Plymouth Argyle, I asked the Vital Lincoln City members what three things they think The Imps need to do to pick up all three points.

Here’s what sedgleyimp said:

1. On Tuesday night Morecambe had Cole Stockton. On Saturday afternoon Plymouth have Ryan Hardie. Both are in form strikers and capable, as demonstrated on Tuesday night, of turning a game in their teams favour in an instant. We will need to deal with Hardie far better than we dealt with Stockton.

2. Be careful defending within the penalty area. Last Saturday Plymouth beat Doncaster 2-1 and both of their goals came from penalty kicks. Now I’m not suggesting that their players have bought soft ones as I haven’t seen footage of either decision, but from that simple fact it does seem that they get the ball into the box quite often and given even the smallest opportunity might be looking to draw a silly foul out of a defender. Our defenders need to be wary of such tactics.

3. Think about the last two games. We played quite well last Saturday in the win at Burton. We then played very poorly in the loss at Morecambe. Often though you can learn more from a bad performance than you do from a good one. We need to ensure that those lessons of what went wrong on Tuesday are learned very quickly as we are playing a team in good form who will turn us over if we repeat Tuesday night again. Think over what went right at Burton and so wrong four days later. The management has challenged the players to respond. They need to.
