In a recent poll, Jon Parkin has emerged as the striker most Imps fans would like to see in a red-and-white striped shirt.
Of those who voted, 35 per cent thought the Macclesfield hitman would be the ideal choice to boost the Imps’ ailing attack, while a further 28 per cent preferred to see Derby forward Paul Peschisolido signed by the club.
But there was a definite thumbs down for recent target Drewe Broughton, with only 2 per cent of fans in favour of a move with the Rushden striker who struggles with disciplinary problems.
That should serve as a wake-up call to boss Keith Alexander, who was determined to snap up Broughton, but was turned down after he wanted to remain at Nene Park ? and didn’t we all breathe a sigh of relief?
