Following the 1-0 win away at Oxford United in League One last night, I asked the Vital Lincoln City members what three things they learnt from the match.

Here’s what PWould said:

1. Write off this Lincoln City team at your peril. So many good news stories from people who have been at times written off. Let’s give a few prime examples. Paudie, the skipper, is not the most elegant but leads by example. Never knows when he is beaten. Danny is the midfield maestro. Too hot-headed, and too inconsistent, and no one knows his best position. He is currently putting these jibes to bed. Lucas the Great Dane. Still, people talk about his erratic kicking, rather than his shot-stopping and command of his area. He is without doubt the best keeper in this league as his stats show. The team itself then, blew it after Wigan. Running on empty. Not from what I saw last night.

2. We are not the most skillful, the most gifted, but our desire passion and will to win, enabled us to get over the line. What a potent mix we do have though. Workrate, team togetherness and a clear desire to play for the badge. Why wouldn’t you though when you get to play for such fans? The Imps fans were more than fantastic. It just feels like such a United club at the moment. Who knows where this may take us? Sit back and enjoy the ride.

3. I just have to highlight Ethan in the middle. What a footballer he is. A combination of tactical awareness, tempo, game management and all with a dose of complete ****housery. For me, he is starting to eclipse even Bridcutt. I just love how he winds up the opposition, both players and fans alike. He is just the kind of player you love to hate when they are not in your team. In fact, we have at least half the team who fit that bill. Mitchell, O Connor, Roughan, House and Taylor all play on the edge. Sometimes it backfires as our 6 red cards this season would suggest.
I can’t wait for a repeat dose at Whaddon Road on Saturday.
