Match Thread: Lincoln City v Northampton Town

This will be the first time he has been the man in the middle for a match involving Lincoln City and only his second for a match involving Northampton Town, having only been promoted to the Football League ahead of the current season. However, he did referee the League Two match between Doncaster Rovers and AFC Wimbledon last season (2-1), showing just two yellow cards.

The only match he has refereed for tonight’s visitors was their 3-1 win at home versus Reading in League One back at the start of October. In this match, he showed 4 yellow cards and 1 red card, including a booking for Northampton Town midfielder Shaun McWilliams and a red card for unused substitute Andy Yiadom (Reading) for complaining about a decision.

Matthew Corlett was the man in the middle for 19 matches during the 2022/23 season. In those matches, he showed 54 yellow cards (2.84) and 2 red cards. He was most card happy in the Conference encounter between Chesterfield and Notts County, showing 7 yellow cards and 1 red card.

So far this season he has refereed 16 matches, showing 62 yellow cards (3.88) and 5 red cards. In the EFL Trophy match between Stockport County and Manchester United U21s (1-1), he showed 7 yellow cards and 1 red card.
