No Score Bore Draw

If you wanted quality flowing attacking football then Sincil Bank was not the place to be on Saturday as Accrington Stanley made a call.

Head tennis, missed chances, and a poor pitch and crowd added to probably one of the worst games of football seen at Sinci Bank for a long time.

At least if you get beat 5-0 you get to see some goals and probably some good football along the way but this was dire.

Accrington arrived and looked to stifle the midfield with 5 players and played with a lone attacker, the young Terry Gornell deployed up front. Time wasting and constant niggling and complaining to the referee was not pleasing on the eye.

For the neutral this was not a match to think about going to watch more League 2 football but at the end of the day the Imps got another point towards the safety margin, perhaps the only plus on a forgetful afternoon of football.

One caller to BBC Lincolnshire bemoaned the total waste of two hours of their lives and the audible sigh of relief around the stadium when the third official indcated only one minute of added time was palpable.

By that stage Sincil Bank was already emptying rapidly as many supporters streamed for the exits.

Many thought Julian Kelly had probably had his best match in an Imps shirt but the opinion of many in the Lincolnshire Echo Stand was that Danny Hone just shaded it.

Let us hope the visit of Southend next week sees a better game of football, we live in hope!
