Jez George said: “This loan gives Ali the opportunity to get his season going by being first choice in his favoured position.

“All parties agree that it will benefit Ali to get a run of games so we have facilitated a loan that might also allow us to move in the last week of the transfer window if the right option becomes available.”

Reaction on the forum:

sedgleyimp: “Interesting as this leaves us slightly short in the middle of the park. Wouldn’t have thought we’d let him go without having an incoming in that position being announced soon.

Decent move for Alistair as he has struggled with the move up from L2 and has a very good coach to look after him for the next few months. He’ll come back a player with more confidence.”

Scotimp: “That leaves us with three in central midfield, one of whom is Teddy Bishop; I wonder if there are two incoming midfielders?

The working squad is now down to 23 players including two goalkeepers plus long-term injury victims Tyler Walker, Ben House, and Lewis Montsma; the matchday squad is almost picking itself as it stands, and O’Connor is still suspended.”

syimp: “A run of games, under the Cowleys’ wing, will do him a power of good. Should help him to regain his confidence. All the best for the rest of the season, Ali!!”
