Michael Appleton: “It’s probably more of a dangerous game tomorrow night.”

Ahead of the third consecutive home game versus latest opponents Doncaster Rovers, Michael Appleton reviewed the significance of that mini-run of fixtures.

The Home Games: MA was asked for comment on the significance of the recent run of matches at the LNER and what it would mean to finish off with three points versus Doncaster.

“Clearly it would be a good week for us. Obviously this season’s been difficult at home. We haven’t got a good record at all”.

MA was pleased with the four points from the first two home games, allied to the Imps playing some ‘good stuff’.

“To be able to back that up with three points tomorrow would be great for the club”.

Doncaster Rovers:

“It’s probably more of a dangerous game tomorrow night. We’re playing against a side who from an expectation point of view, there’s very little on them at this moment in time; where they are. That makes it more dangerous”

MA aims to get the points tally to fifty as quickly as possible, which would enable everyone to breathe easier but did warn against complacency in the context of Doncaster struggling this season. The message is very clear to the players – treat it as difficult as the last two games. MA recalled that the Imps should have beaten Doncaster comfortably at their ground but ended up frustrating the life out of Lincoln and had a big chance of their own that could have been disastrous.

Player Watch: There is still a doubt hanging over Joe Walsh which is particularly frustrating to MA. Likewise, TJ Eyoma is 50/50 with a groin issue but in the final analysis, MA expects both players to be available for the Doncaster fixture.

MA remarked upon the recent introduction of Brooke Norton-Cuffy. There had been glimpses of what the player had to offer in his earlier performances coming off the bench. Naturally, Brooke has a good pedigree with him coming from a club the size and stature of Arsenal. Aside from BNC pace and strength, it is actually his mental attributes that impress MA the most with the player having a strong mentality and eagerness to do well.
