OOH Lincoln take on Derby in this afternoons league match.

OOH Lincoln ladies Manager Rod Wilson is hoping that the wet weather does not put paid to his side`s game with Derby County on Sunday (2pm).

The Lady Imps will be looking to move into third place in the table when they welcome the Derbyshire ladies to Ashby Avenue, for a match originally scheduled for the 1st of November. Given the number of recent call-offs, Wilson is concerned that the game could again be in doubt.

“It`s very frustrating and it puts the season back,” he said. “We pay the players` travelling expenses so the longer the season goes on the more it costs us.

“And you don`t get match fit by training – you`ve got to play. The players hate it when the games are off. But it`s just one of those things, we can`t alter it so we just have to get on with it.

“It`ll be nice to hopefully have two home games in a row now.”

Wilson also revealed that the squad`s injury problems are improving, with midfield powerhouse and captain Carla Ward back in contention. But Jodie Michalska remains the only fit striker on the books and a tactical re-shuffle is possible.

“Stacey Aisthorpe is still out but we hope she`ll get the go ahead from the doctor to train next week,” said Wilson.

“We`ve only really got one forward because Amanda Barr is still out. And Mel Cook is still out with an ankle injury.

“Carla Ward will be ok.”

Wilson is cagey on the prospect of Leandra Little lining up in an attacking role. The central defender had been expected to partner Michalska at Manchester City last week. But going into this week`s encounter, Wilson was playing his cards close to his chest.

“I don`t know, last week it was nailed on but this week we`ve tried Carla Ward up front in training. There`s still a chance, we`ll have to discuss it and think about it.”

And although Derby County are not regular opponents for the Lady Imps, Wilson highlighted the pace of Jennifer Anslow as a danger to his side.

“We`ve not played them for about four years, but we know they`ve got an extremely fast forward who scores quite a few goals.

“They`ve been a bit hot and cold. They drew twice with Leicester which is no mean feat but then recently they`ve lost a couple.

“When we played their reserves they passed it about very well, so we expect them to be technically very good.

“I should imagine they`ll put five in midfield and try and hit us on the break.”
