Lincoln City and Bradford City first met in a competitive fixture on 27 February 1904 at Valley Parade during Bradford’s first season in the Football League. Curiously, it was also their first season in existence, having been formed as the association football arm of Manningham FC, a rugby league side. The Football League saw the club’s formation as an opportunity to make headway against the domination of rugby league in the area and duly elected the new club to the Second Division in place of unfortunate Yorkshire neighbours Doncaster Rovers. Bradford beat Lincoln 2-1 that day in front of an excellent crowd of 7,000, with Lincoln winning the return at Sincil Bank by a single goal five weeks later. Bradford have the overall advantage with 33 wins to Lincoln’s 29, with 22 draws.

Playing connections are numerous, with Steve Torpey, Ian Bowling, David Brightwell, Richard Liburd, Steve Foley, Mark Stallard, Scott Kerr, Delroy Facey, Spencer Weir-Daley, Scott Loach, Luke Medley, Mark McCammon, Kevin Ellison, Guy Branston, Nialle Rodney, Alan Sheehan, Billy Knott, Jack Payne, Shay McCartan, Danny L Rowe, Lee Angol and Theo Robinson appearing for both clubs since 1990.
