Following Saturday’s 2-1 win at home against Charlton Athletic in League One, I asked the Vital Lincoln City members what three things they learned from the match.

Here’s what NottyImp said:

1. Walsh and McGrandles are key to a better defense and defensive midfield. They are part of the “spine” of the team and provide the battling qualities some of our more technical players don’t have. Let’s hope they stay fit!

2. We have to be patient when attacking. Our style of play is such that we probe for an opening, often with lots of possession, but such moves do not always work out.

However, I’d like us to try to spot Sorensen’s runs through the middle a little more often because I think that would give us another option in attack. I hope he keeps making them as no one was really spotting them on Saturday and he looked to be getting a little frustrated.

3. Good crosses make goals, even if they cannon in off Jaden Stockley’s arse. Maguire looks to have really good delivery and both Poole and Robson seem to be improving on this issue. however, not every team will play as narrowly as Charlton did and give us so many opportunities to cross.

Thank you to Graham Burrell and Lincoln City Football Club for the photograph!

City's 2-0 win over Charlton on 27 September 2020 was the first league meeting between the clubs since which season?
