Lincoln City 1-1 Sheffield Wednesday: Views & Stats

|

Views from PerthImp following Saturday’s 1-1 draw at home against Sheffield Wednesday in League One: “First half was like a friendly game for Wednesday. MK obviously did the business with his HT team talk as they came out a lot better. Great goal from Mandriou but we also put the doubt into Wednesday with our pressing and could have snatched a winner. A great point was well battled for. The referee was absolutely inconsistent. Great couple of weeks against some good teams. Let’s hope we can do the same against Barnsley. Up the Imps.”

mikeosullivan: “Proud of the lads for that second-half performance.

A totally different style compared to previous seasons, but I enjoy watching MK’s team for their 100% commitment, effort, and dedication.

This season we may not rise above mid-table, but I’m encouraged that Mk will only make the side better, given time.”

imps_joe: “Very solid 2nd half. We defended so well as a team and at times made Wednesday look very ordinary. For all the possession they had we limited them to few good chances. The man of the match could have been any of the back three but I’ll give it to Jackson.

Still think we look poor going forward and I would actually say difficult to watch when we have the ball. The one good footballing move we put together resulted in the goal.

Really happy with the point and would say we were worthy of a point.

It didn’t look like 10,000 in the stadium and I was extremely surprised at how quiet the Wednesday fans were, especially after taking an early lead.”

sedgleyimp: “That was absolutely fine today. A decent point against a team we matched, probably not in possession stats, but overall not that much between us and them. In fact I’d go as far to say that only Bannen on their side looked like having that something extra for a team of their purported size in our league. To give credit where it is due he was the best player on the pitch.

Anyway back to Lincoln…I’m happy to overlook the calamity by Rushworth in gifting them their goal. He’s got plenty of credit in the bank and as ever if a keeper makes that kind of mistake it so very often leads to a goal being conceded. Other than that I though the defence did very well overall. The midfield two worked tirelessly and despite not having many chances to get going, the front three did fine as well. Very nice link-up between House and Mandy for the equaliser.

So a 7/10 performance today and a very useful point gained.”
