League One Transfers: The Full List

Image for League One Transfers: The Full List

Here are ‘all’ the League One transfers – in and out – for January 2020. Apologies if I have missed any, unfortunately, it is almost impossible to track every change due to clubs making little or no announcement on occasion – witness the signing of Charlie Andrew, for example. I have not included loan signings out because they have scant effect on how well any side is likely to perform over the second half of the season; how many games were Jordan Adebayo-Smith, Alex Bradley, Grant Smith and Ben Coker going to be involved in anyway? Also included is an attempt to quantify how effective each club has been comparatively during the window. Caveat: I will probably be wrong.

Accrington Stanley: In: 2 Out: 1
In:
Winger: Bobby Grant, 29 (on loan from Wrexham to the end of the season)
Striker: Benny Ashley-Seal, 21 (on loan from Wolves to the end of the season)
Out:
Striker: Okera Simmonds, 19 (contract cancelled by mutual consent)

Accrington Stanley summary: Accrington’s biggest loss during the window was the influential Sean McConville to serious injury, leaving December Manager of the Month John Coleman with a huge hole to fill. Injuries to a clutch of other players including top scorer Colby Bishop gave added impetus to Coleman’s task, yet he was only able to bring in his two signings on the final day of the window. Accrington have been in poor form since Coleman won that Manager of the Month award, collecting just one point from five games and being knocked out of the Leasing.com Trophy by League Two moneybags Salford. Accrington may be hoping there are three clubs with more problems than they have.

AFC Wimbledon: In: 3 Out: 3
In:
Goalkeeper: Joe Day, 29 (on loan from Cardiff City to the end of the season)
Defender: Mads Bech Sorensen, 21 (on loan from Brentford to the end of the season)
Striker: Julien Lamy, 20 (on loan from Rotherham United to the end of the season)
Out:
Defender: Ryan Delaney, 23 (loan from Rochdale ended)
Striker: Marcus Forss, 20 (loan from Brentford ended)
Striker: Michael Folivi, 21 (loan from Watford ended)

AFC Wimbledon summary: Things are not looking good for AFC Wimbledon. The loss of top scorer Marcus Forss may well have dealt a fatal blow to The Dons’ chances of staying in League One, and the construction of a stadium they cannot possibly pay for continues to cast a large shadow over events both on and off the pitch. Signings look mediocre, although former Newport goalkeeper Joe Day could prove a useful addition. The prospect of starting a glorious new era in a new stadium in League One appears to be a vanishing pipe dream, replaced by the distinct possibility of Kingsmeadow in League Two and debts up to their ears and beyond.

Blackpool: In: 10 Out: 8
In:
Goalkeeper: Chris Maxwell, 29 (Preston North End)
Defender: Jordan Thorniley, 23 (Sheffield Wednesday)
Defender: Marc Bola, 22 (on loan from Middlesbrough to the end of the season)
Defender: Taylor Moore, 22 (on loan from Bristol City to the end of the season)
Defender: Teddy Howe, 21 (Reading)
Midfielder: Connor Ronan, 21 (on loan from Wolves to the end of the season)
Midfielder: Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, 21 (on loan from Leicester to the end of the season)
Midfielder: Ben Garrity, 21 (Warrington Town)
Winger: Grant Ward, 25 (free agent)
Striker: Gary Madine, 29 (free agent)
Out:
Defender: Curtis Tilt, 28 (Rotherham United)
Defender: Nick Anderton, 23 (Carlisle United)
Defender: Rocky Bushiri, 20 (loan from Norwich City ended)
Midfielder: Callum Guy, 23 (Carlisle United)
Midfielder: Jordan Thompson, 23 (Stoke City)
Midfielder: Rowan Roache, 19 (contract cancelled by mutual consent)
Winger: Ben Tollitt, 25 (contract cancelled by mutual consent)
Striker: Emil Jaaskelainen, 18 (contract cancelled by mutual consent)

Blackpool summary: In common with Lincoln, Blackpool have signed virtually a complete new team. A couple of high profile free agents have been backed up by the return of fans’ favourite Bola, promising Championship defender Thorniley and recent Leicester debutant Dewsbury-Hall. Departures have largely consisted of fringe players, the exception being the curiously inconsistent Thompson to Stoke, whilst the loss of Tilt to Rotherham came as a late surprise. Blackpool have undoubtedly strengthened all over the pitch, but will it be enough to reignite their faltering promotion challenge? Manager Simon Grayson has four previous promotions from League One on his cv, so we should watch this space with interest.

Bolton Wanderers: In: 9 Out: 6
In:
Defender:
Toto Nsiala, 27 (on loan from Ipswich Town to the end of the season)
Defender: Ryan Delaney, 23 (Rochdale)
Defender: Kean Bryan, 23 (on loan from Sheffield United to the end of the season)
Defender: Brandon Fleming, 20 (on loan from Hull City to the end of the season)
Midfielder: Jacob Mellis, 29 (Mansfield Town)
Midfielder: Anthony Georgiou, 22 (on loan from Tottenham Hotspur to the end of the season)
Midfielder: Ethan Hamilton, 21 (on loan from Manchester United to the end of the season)
Midfielder: George Thomason, 18 (Longridge Town)
Striker: Muhammadu Faal, 22 (Enfield Town)
Out:
Goalkeeper: Ben Alnwick, 33 (contract cancelled by mutual consent)
Defender: Jake Wright, 33 (loan from Sheffield United ended)
Defender: Josh Earl, 21 (loan from Preston North End ended)
Midfielder: Liam Bridcutt, 30 (loan from Nottingham Forest ended)
Midfielder: James Weir, 24 (contract cancelled by mutual consent)
Winger: Thibaud Verlinden, 20 (loan from Stoke City ended)

Bolton Wanderers summary: Some very uninspiring signings came as a surprise to some supporters, given Bolton’s £40 million loan; perhaps the intention is to run the club correctly at long last. Five of the nine newcomers are loans, while Mellis has signed to the end of the season only. Bolton also tried to re-sign Liam Bridcutt for the second half of the season but lost out to Lincoln. Inevitably there will be an element of keeping their powder dry: there is little point spending money in January with relegation already a near certainty.

Bristol Rovers: In: 7 Out: 4
In:
Goalkeeper: Jamal Blackman, 26 (on loan from Chelsea to the end of the season)
Defender: Cian Harries, 22 (Swansea City)
Midfielder: Josh Ginnelly, 22 (on loan from Preston to the end of the season)
Midfielder: Josh Barrett, 21 (Reading)
Winger: Jayden Mitchell-Lawson, 20 (on loan from Derby County to the end of the season)
Striker: James Daly, 20 (Crystal Palace)
Striker: Timmy Abraham, 19 (on loan from Fulham to the end of the season)
Out:
Striker: Bernard Mensah, 25 (Gloucester City)
Striker: Victor Adeboyejo, 22 (loan from Barnsley ended)
Striker: Tyler Smith, 21 (loan from Sheffield United ended)
Striker: Deon Moore, 20 (released at end of contract)

Bristol Rovers summary: Rovers’ approach to the transfer window was not helped by manager Ben Garner taking leave from the club due to the illness of a family member, and Garner had only been in the job a few weeks himself after the departure of Graham Coughlan to Mansfield. A run of very poor results has seen Rovers plummet from the play-off places into the bottom half, creating an almost unavoidable plunge into the transfer market. It will be interesting to see whether or not Timmy Abraham can replicate the form of his more famous brother, while former Red Imp and National League winner Josh Ginnelly will be aiming to revive his career after a fruitless move to Preston.

Burton Albion: In: 3 Out: 3
In:
Defender: Conor Shaughnessy, 23 (on loan from Leeds United to the end of the season)
Midfielder: Joe Powell, 21 (West Ham United)
Winger: Jamie Murphy, 30 (on loan from Rangers to the end of the season)
Out:
Goalkeeper: Jack Livesey, 19 (contract cancelled by mutual consent)
Winger: David Templeton, 31 (contract cancelled by mutual consent)
Striker: Liam Boyce, 28 (Heart of Midlothian)

Burton Albion summary: Some good business done by Burton in January, although quite how some relatively high-profile signings are being funded on crowds of 2,000 is a different question. The loan of former Scotland international Jamie Murphy is the standout signing, while West Ham’s Joe Powell was linked with Lincoln early in the window. There was an air of inevitability to the departure of Boyce to Hearts, with the striker approaching the end of his contract this summer.

Coventry City: In: 1 Out: 1
In:
Winger: Ryan Giles, 20 (on loan from Wolves to the end of the season)
Out:
Goalkeeper: Corey Addai, 22 (contract cancelled by mutual consent)

Coventry City summary: Transfer activity was always going to be minimal and thereafter reactive after manager Mark Robins stated very early in the transfer window that he was happy with his present squad. Young defender Sam McCallum signed for Norwich for a substantial fee on deadline day but was loaned straight back for the remainder of the season, so status quo there. The skilful Ryan Giles can only be an asset. Coventry look a pretty good bet for the play-offs, and may yet crash the promotion party early.

League One Transfer Activity: Accrington to Coventry

Doncaster Rovers: In: 4 Out: 7
In:
Midfielder: Jacob Ramsay, 18 (on loan from Aston Villa to the end of the season)
Winger: Jason Lokilo, 21 (on loan from Crystal Palace to the end of the season)
Striker: Devante Cole, 24 (Wigan Athletic)
Striker: Fejiri Okenabirhie, 23 (Shrewsbury Town)
Out:
Defender: Donervon Daniels, 26 (loan from Luton Town ended)
Midfielder: Cody Prior, 20 (contract cancelled by mutual consent)
Striker: Alfie May, 26 (Cheltenham Town)
Striker: Rakish Bingham, 26 (released at end of short-term contract)
Striker: Kwame Thomas, 24 (released at end of short-term contract)
Striker: Will Longbottom, 21 (contract cancelled by mutual consent)
Striker: Kazaiah Sterling, 21 (loan from Tottenham Hotspur ended)

Doncaster Rovers summary: Manager Darren Moore stated unequivocally that his squad was not good enough at the start of the window, but is it much better at the end of it? Moore has certainly improved his attack on paper with Devante Cole the headline signing, but little action has been taken in other areas. No fewer than five strikers departed the club, suggesting the aim was to produce a more balanced squad. The permanent arrival of only two players may indicate that Moore sees the summer as the right time to continue his rebuilding job. Doncaster are one of ten or so clubs that could yet make the play-offs.

Fleetwood Town: In: 5 Out: 2
In:
Defender: Lewis Gibson, 19 (on loan from Everton to the end of the season)
Midfielder: Glenn Whelan, 36 (free agent)
Midfielder: Callum Connolly, 22 (on loan from Everton to the end of the season)
Midfielder: Isak Thorvaldsson, 18 (on loan from Norwich City to the end of the season)
Winger: Barrie McKay, 25 (on loan from Swansea City to the end of the season)
Out:
Defender: Peter Clarke, 37 (Tranmere Rovers)
Defender: Ashley Eastham, 28 (Salford City)

Fleetwood Town summary: Fleetwood made the loan of defender Lewie Coyle from Leeds permanent for big money and followed that with a number of impressive signings. The pick of the bunch is certainly Scotland international winger Barrie McKay, a former team mate of manager Barton at Rangers. Glenn Whelan is a big name signing on paper, given the scarcity of players in League One with almost a century of international caps, but are those caps too long ago? Callum Connolly has also arrived, although most Lincoln fans will say they are welcome to him after his undistinguished loan spell at Sincil Bank. Despite the expense for such a small club, Fleetwood look well set for a play-off challenge.

Gillingham: In: 3 Out: 5
In:
Winger: Jordan Roberts, 26 (on loan from Ipswich Town to the end of the season)
Winger: Jordan Graham, 24 (on loan from Wolves to the end of the season)
Striker: John Akinde, 30 (Lincoln City)
Out:
Defender: Bradley Garmston, 26 (contract cancelled by mutual consent)
Midfielder: Mark Marshall, 32 (Northampton Town)
Striker: Alex Jakubiak, 23 (loan from Watford ended)
Striker: Mikael Ndjoli, 21 (loan from AFC Bournemouth ended)
Striker: Roman Campbell, 19 (Sittingbourne)

Gillingham summary: Things are seldom dull with Steve Evans pulling the strings. His claims that he refused to sign a player sanctioned by the chairman because of excessive wages was interesting for a host of reasons, especially since he signed Akinde anyway. He then claimed the recall of Alex Jakubiak was because he could not guarantee the virtual ever-present game time. Evans seems to have boosted his attacking options with the addition of a couple of experienced wingers, and it will be interesting to see how well Akinde gets on in a more direct team.

Ipswich Town: In: 2 Out: 2
In:
Defender: Josh Earl, 21 (on loan from Preston North End to the end of the season)
Defender: Levi Andoh, 19 (free agent)
Out:
Goalkeeper: Bartosz Bialkowski, 32 (Millwall)
Winger: Anthony Georgiou, 22 (loan from Tottenham ended)

Ipswich Town summary: No business of any significance at Portman Road. Move along, nothing to see here.

Lincoln City: In: 10 Out: 6
In:
Goalkeeper: Charlie Andrew, 20 (Hull City)
Defender: Akeem Hinds, 20 (free agent)
Defender: TJ Eyoma, 20 (on loan from Tottenham to the end of the season)
Midfielder: Liam Bridcutt, 30 (on loan from Nottingham Forest to the end of the season)
Midfielder: Tayo Edun, 21 (Fulham)
Midfielder: Conor Coventry, 19 (on loan from West Ham to the end of the season)
Winger: Zack Elbouzedi, 21 (Waterford)
Striker: Tom Hopper, 26 (Southend United)
Striker: Anthony Scully, 20 (West Ham United)
Striker: Tyreece John-Jules, 18 (on loan from Arsenal to the end of the season)
Out:
Defender: Harry Toffolo, 24 (Huddersfield Town)
Midfielder: Michael O’Connor, 32 (Salford City)
Midfielder: Callum Connolly, 22 (loan from Everton ended)
Winger: Bruno Andrade, 26 (Salford City)
Striker: John Akinde, 30 (Gillingham)
Striker: Tyler Walker, 23 (loan from Nottingham Forest ended)

Lincoln City summary: Just a few weeks after joining Lincoln, new manager Michael Appleton stated his intention to radically reduce the age of his squad, and he has taken no time at all to put those plans into action. There were big money departures in the shape of Andrade and the outstanding Toffolo, but Appleton has used his contacts to bring in a clutch of exciting young players capable of implementing his favoured passing game. Quite how well they adapt to the higher grade of football remains to be seen, although experience has been added in the shape of Hopper and former international Bridcutt. Top scorers Walker and Akinde have both gone, suggesting goals may be harder to come by than of late. However, a large number of home games and some relatively straightforward aways should see Lincoln comfortable in mid-table.

Milton Keynes Dons: In: 4 Out: 1
In:
Goalkeeper: Andrew Fisher, 21 (on loan from Blackburn Rovers to the end of the season)
Midfielder: Ben Gladwin, 27 (Blackburn Rovers)
Midfielder: Louis Thompson, 25 (on loan from Norwich City to the end of the season)
Striker: Carlton Morris, 24 (on loan from Norwich City to the end of the season)
Out:
Midfielder: Brennan Dickenson, 26 (Exeter City)

Milton Keynes Dons summary: Having enjoyed a revival over the festive period, the task for MK Dons during the window was simply to reinforce a steady rise away from the relegation zone and ensure League One football for next season. Carlton Morris was one notable arrival, particularly considering his unexpected withdrawal from Rotherham United the same day. His Norwich team mate Thompson was similarly withdrawn from another loan (at Shrewsbury), and the two will spearhead a reinforced attack. MK should not be remotely in danger come the end of the season.

Oxford United: In: 4 Out: 5
In:
Defender: Rob Atkinson, 21 (Eastleigh)
Midfielder: Liam Kelly, 24 (on loan from Feyenoord to the end of the season)
Winger: Nathan Holland, 21 (on loan from West Ham to the end of the season)
Striker: Marcus Browne, 22 (on loan from Middlesbrough to the end of the season)
Out:
Goalkeeper: Jordan Archer, 26 (Fulham)
Defender: Chris Cadden, 23 (loan from Columbus Crew ended)
Midfielder: Tariqe Fosu, 24 (Brentford)
Midfielder: Shandon Baptiste, 21 (Brentford)
Winger: Oussama Zamouri, 23 (released at end of short-term contract)

Oxford United summary: The impressive signings of Nathan Holland and Liam Kelly have been offset by the unexpected loss of the outstanding Cadden at the very start of the window, and Fosu and Baptiste at the very end of it. Oxford have picked up just two points since Cadden’s departure, due in part to the distraction of lengthy runs in two cup competitions, and that remains the challenge if the Us are to continue their promotion bid. Karl Robinson laments the 60+ games his side will play this season, but will privately welcome the extra transfer income provided by them. Oxford appear to have lost both quality and size from their squad; time will tell whether they have the collective legs to drag themselves over the May finish line.

Peterborough United: In: 3 Out: 0
In:
Midfielder: Sammie Szmodics, 24 (on loan from Bristol City to the end of the season)
Midfielder: Reece Brown, 23 (on loan from Huddersfield to the end of the season)
Midfielder: Jack Taylor, 21 (Barnet, £500,000 rising to £1m)
Out:
None

Peterborough United summary: Business as usual at London Road, with big money splashed on a non-league prospect and players in the final year (or even two) of their contracts being sold or farmed out to any club willing to take them. The model was justified again by rumours of big money sales for Marcus Maddison and Ivan Toney, although nothing materialised in terms of permanent transfers. Sammie Szmodics could prove the most significant signing, although he is untested in League One. Peterborough are another of the potential play-off sides, and Ferguson has been here before; that experience may prove the decisive factor during the run-in.

League One Transfer Activity: Doncaster To Peterborough

Portsmouth: In: 3 Out: 2
In:
Defender: Steve Seddon, 22 (on loan from Birmingham City to the end of the season)
Midfielder: Cameron McGeehan, 24 (on loan from Barnsley to the end of the season)
Striker: Reeco Hackett-Fairchild, 21 (Bromley)
Out:
Defender: Anton Walkes, 22 (Atlanta United – USA)
Winger: Leon Maloney, 18 (FC Volendam – Netherlands)

Portsmouth summary: Portsmouth manager Kenny Jackett had a relatively quiet window, perhaps the result of improved form during January. Despite that, he has made two excellent signings in the shape of Steve Seddon and previous League one promotion-winner Cameron McGeehan (with Barnsley last season). Portsmouth are improving at the right time, and supporters are expecting a sustained challenge for promotion. But with a second successive EFL Trophy Final also in the offing, Jackett will need his full squad to see the season out.

Rochdale: In: 3 Out: 3
In:
Midfielder: Matty Lund, 29 (Scunthorpe United)
Striker: Tyler Smith, 21 (on loan from Sheffield United to the end of the season)
Striker: Keaton Mulvey, 18 (Curzon Ashton)
Out:
Defender: Ryan Delaney, 23 (Bolton Wanderers)
Defender: Tyler Magloire, 21 (loan from Blackburn Rovers ended)
Striker: Rekeil Pyke, 22 (loan from Huddersfield Town ended)

Rochdale summary: As expected, changes have been few and far between at cash-strapped Rochdale. The loss of 17-year-old prodigy Luke Matheson to Wolves will not be felt until next season, as the young defender remains on loan for the time being. The rest are largely superficial, suggesting the current scrap for survival will continue for the foreseeable future.

Rotherham United: In: 3 Out: 4
In:
Defender: Curtis Tilt, 28 (Blackpool)
Striker: Hakeeb Adelakun, 23 (on loan from Bristol City to the end of the season)
Striker: Josh Koroma, 21 (on loan from Huddersfield Town to the end of the season)
Out:
Defender: Akeem Hinds, 20 (contract terminated by mutual consent)
Midfielder: Matt Palmer, 24 (contract terminated by mutual consent)
Midfielder: Jake Hastie, 20 (loan from Glasgow Rangers ended)
Striker: Carlton Morris, 24 (loan from Norwich City ended)

Rotherham United summary: Precisely what manager Paul Warne thought of the recall of Carlton Morris by Norwich and his immediate dispatch to League One rivals MK Dons has not been reported, although he handled the loss by bringing in two highly-rated young strikers from the Championship. The impressive deadline day capture of Curtis Tilt will reinforce an already strong defence as Rotherham continue their push for an immediate return to the second tier. Warne has taken the Millers up before, and looks a sound bet for a repeat.

Shrewsbury Town: In: 6 Out: 7
In:
Goalkeeper: Harry Burgoyne, 23 (Wolverhampton Wanderers)
Defender: Sam Hart, 23 (on loan from Blackburn to the end of the season)
Defender: Kayne Ramsay, 19 (on loan from Southampton to the end of the season)
Midfielder: Josh Vela, 26 (Hibernian)
Midfielder: Ousmane Fané, 25 (free agent)
Striker: Conor McAleny, 27 (on loan from Fleetwood Town to the end of the season)
Out:
Midfielder: Anthony Grant, 32 (Swindon Town)
Midfielder: Ousmane Fané, 25 (returned to France for personal reasons)
Midfielder
: Louis Thompson, 25 (loan from Norwich City ended)
Midfielder: Luke McCormick, 20 (loan from Chelsea ended)
Winger: Ryan Giles, 19 (loan from Wolves ended)
Striker: Lenell John-Lewis, 30 (released at end of contract)
Striker: Fejiri Okenabirhie, 23 (Doncaster Rovers)

Shrewsbury Town summary: Six departures by the middle of January led to a busy few weeks for Sam Ricketts in his third transfer window as Shrewsbury manager. The standout losses of striker Okenabirhie and tricky winger Giles could prove problematic for a side that scores very few goals to begin with. The windfall of an Anfield FA Cup replay has come just too late to be used this transfer window, although Ricketts should have some good options in the summer. There is nothing to suggest a late run to the play-offs is a possibility, but Shrewsbury should not have any problems staying up either.

Southend United: In: 0 Out: 7
In:
None
Out:
Goalkeeper: Nathan Bishop, 20 (Manchester United)
Defender: Liam Ridgewell, 35 (contract cancelled by mutual consent)
Defender: Rob Kiernan, 29 (contract cancelled by mutual consent)
Midfielder: Ethan Hamilton, 21 (loan from Manchester United ended)
Winger: Layton Ndukwu, 21 (loan from Leicester City ended)
Striker: Simon Cox, 32 (Western Sydney Wanderers – Australia)
Striker: Tom Hopper, 26 (Lincoln City)

Southend United summary: January transfer activity at doomed Southend gave a new meaning to planning for the future as Sol Campbell began his preparations for life in League Two. Southend are the only club to end the window with no signings, although two free agents from Macclesfield are expected in the first few days of February. Players being paid late followed by an exodus does not bode well for League Two next season, never mind League One. A very familiar tale of woe for Mr Campbell – he really can pick ’em, can’t he?

Sunderland: In: 5 Out: 2
In:
Defender: Bailey Wright, 27 (on loan from Bristol City to the end of the season)
Defender: Declan John, 24 (on loan from Swansea City to the end of the season)
Midfielder: Josh Scowen, 26 (Queens Park Rangers)
Striker: Kyle Lafferty, 32 (Sarpsborg 08 – Norway)
Striker: Antoine Semenyo, 20 (on loan from Bristol City to the end of the season)
Out:
Midfielder: Dylan McGeouch, 26 (Aberdeen)
Striker: Marc McNulty, 27 (loan from Reading ended)

Sunderland summary: Improved form in early January was one possible factor in a relatively quiet transfer window at the Stadium of Light. A shadow of doubt over the long-term future of manager Phil Parkinson may have been another factor, although a number of signings materialised late in the window. Welsh international John and impressive former Newport loanee Semenyo are the most interesting of the bunch, and Josh Scowen won promotion from League One in 2016 with Barnsley.
Furthermore, the troublesome McGeady has been shipped out on loan to Charlton. Things are looking promising on Wearside, although Parkinson has no room for error.

Tranmere Rovers: In: 6 Out: 1
In:
Defender: Peter Clarke, 37 (Fleetwood Town)
Defender: Morgan Feeney, 20 (on loan from Everton to the end of the season)
Midfielder: Alex Woodyard, 26 (on loan from Peterborough to the end of the season)
Midfielder: Luke McCullough, 25 (free agent)
Striker: James Vaughan, 31 (on loan from Bradford City to the end of the season)
Striker: Andy Cook, 29 (on loan from Mansfield Town to the end of the season)
Out:
Striker: Rushian Hepburn-Murphy, 21 (loan from Aston Villa ended)

Tranmere Rovers summary: A very good transfer window was vital for Tranmere if they are to avoid an immediate return to League Two. Six players have been brought in to boost the squad to a hefty 32, but whether or not they will actually improve the team on the pitch is a different question. The return of National League hero Andy Cook is interesting, and Lincoln supporters will be watching how Alex Woodyard performs in League One with more regular starts. Tranmere may be hoping there are three teams worse than they are, their salvation possibly coming from the financial disarray at AFC Wimbledon.

Wycombe Wanderers: In: 2 Out: 1
In:
Goalkeeper: David Stockdale, 34 (on loan from Birmingham City to the end of the season)
Defender: Jason McCarthy, 24 (on loan from Millwall to the end of the season)
Out:
Winger: Rolando Aarons, 24 (loan from Newcastle United ended)

Wycombe Wanderers summary: As Wycombe’s form wavered through late December and into January, the expectation was for some judicious signings to help revive their promotion challenge. The two-month gambling ban handed out to ever-present striker Scott Kashket came as a further blow, leaving manager Ainsworth with a faltering team and a reducing squad. Changes have been minimal, with Ainsworth placing his faith in the existing squad that took them seven points clear at the top in December. With only seven home games remaining and a mediocre away record, the second part of the season looks far more challenging for Wycombe.
