Jones denies Imps victory

It was the same old story for Lincoln as yet again they had a game won only to throw it away at the death.

Leading through Simon Yeo?s first goal on his return to the club ? scoring in the 63rd minute after latching on to Colin Cryan?s through ball ? the Imps suffered injury-time agony as Mark Jones smashed home a 92nd minute leveller to rescue a point for the Dragons.

But in truth, City should have sown the game up by then, with Yeo proving profligate in front of goal. He could have put Keith Alexander?s men ahead just past the half-hour mark after, but shot at thin air when trying to take advantage of Dennis Lawrence?s awful backpass, and then wasted a golden opportunity after the break shooting wide after collecting another dreadful backpass.

In between these chances, Jamie McCombe headed against his own bar as City chose to defend in numbers ? a ploy that almost worked.

Sub Ollie Ryan, who replaced Yeo late on, almost sealed the win for the Imps as the clock ticked down, but was denied by the legs of goalkeeper Michael Ingham.

And then Wrexham made Lincoln pay for being so wasteful by grabbing a late leveller, firing home Andy Holt’s pass from 12 yards.
