Ahead of tomorrow’s match at home against Ipswich Town, I asked the Vital Lincoln City members what three things they think The Imps need to do to pick up all three points.

Here’s what sedgleyimp said:

1. Go for the jugular from the off. Ipswich are low on confidence at the moment. They have been very poor this season and find themselves in the bottom four. Whilst we were putting five past Cambridge last Saturday, they were shipping the same amount at home to Bolton. They have conceded 15 goals in 6 league games. They have a manager who has the strange trait of constantly criticising his players in public, something which cannot be helpful. Yet you can’t help feeling that a club such as theirs cannot struggle forever. They have spent heavily on a new squad, a squad which is still learning how to play together and if and when they do results must start coming for them. We need to ensure that they continue with their low confidence from the off on Saturday. An early goal will deflate them. The longer the game goes on without one will only increase their own beliefs that they can start to turn things around. Start on the front foot and get at them from the kick-off. They will crumble.

2. Adapt to the game. We all know how MA wants us to play and when it works it is a joy to watch. Sometimes though the opposition are wily to what our game plan is and will combat it. The last fifteen minutes on Tuesday when Sincil Bank became more like Rourke’s Drift was a clear example of this. Rotherham identified how to stop us playing and we failed to really adapt to it. You’d have thought that a team like Ipswich should have a detailed dossier on all our players and our style in general. If they look to counter those plans, we need to come up with alternatives.

3. Release the Bishop. I suspect that Ted Bishop was left on the bench for the whole of Tuesday’s match with the Ipswich game in mind. He will have something to prove to Paul Cook and that kind of personal incentive can benefit the whole team. Bishop has been a terrific signing for us already this season and will want to remind Ipswich of the folly in letting him go. He needs to start every game he physically can, but more specifically he needs to start this coming Saturday.
